not very original, you copied the idea from the movie "Pleasantville," the animation was good but if you are going to take an idea from something please at least try to make a comprehensible story to change the flavor

Oh look, it's Pleasantville.
The animation was great, very fluid yet very simple. The music choice was great, felt it fit very well. The "story" was mediocre and has been used too many times.
I'm all for trying to make an artistic statement
but this idea is so overused and this flash was poorly done

Well animated but entirely cliche
This animation was, well, it was animated well and the music matched well with it but a good looking animation with no story is just eye candy. And that's all this is.
I'll get the good out of the way to tell you whats wrong. This is well animated as I've stated, it's very simple but pretty fluid, I think it worked well as a short. Another thing was the music, I my self am not into the whole 8-bit music stuff but it fit the mood and gave it the up beat theme that you were striving to achieve, so bravo. For a 48-hour production limit, you did not lack in the animation department nor did you pick bad pieces for the animation, these things I feel, are what you did right. So good job.
Even with, good animation that is highlighted by choice of music, if there's not a good story, than it falls flat, it's simply hollow and I can't give a good score for eye candy. Honestly, I'd like to know what the guy who developed the story was thinking. "Let's make the most cliched story possible so we'll have plenty of time to make it look pretty!", would be my guess. But I'd rather watch a crappily animated flash with a thought provoking or even funny story rather than a pretty story with nothing in it.
I've seen this story a thousand times, the whole "Someone who was born different from others is ashamed of what they are until something happens that causes people to become more tolerant and bask in the 'happy feel good' emotions" kind of story and rather than list all the flashes on this site that already promotes that kind theme (*cough* color my world *cough*) I'd rather just say you should have known better than wasting time by animating this "feel good" crap fest. Let's be honest here you didn't give a damn about story did you? So long as it looks the best, we'll win. And surely enough you did. Just a well animated generic story beats out all the other more thought provoking ones because how could anyone ever not vote for something so cute and heart warming? Well, I guess that's off topic.
The bottom line is, you need to think more about story. You could have expanded this story at least, I mean, if it had covered how he was abused for being different or something like that I'd at least feel sympahetic for it. It's like you cut out all the drama and gave only the happy feel good stuff at the end. Though this was for a competition, so I suppose there's no helping it, but I won't excuse the lack of good story for the sake of feeling sorry that you weren't given enough time, the story should have been the first thing you thought of. Everything else is second bananna.
