Reviews for "Second Chance"

Could have been better

Congradulations on getting the cartoon used for Robot Day 2011 (the new one at least)! This probably had the best animation of anything I've watched today. The downside was that it really seems like it led to an anti-climax. It just seemed like it was getting so good with putting an emotional side to it. At least the main robot managed to achieve his goal. The lack of dialogue also put a really good artistic tone to this, even if it wasn't that well done.

The coolest part was probably when everything was getting blown up! I didn't understand it, but it was awesome! It makes me wish there had been more of a climax with a big battle. Still, this seems to have the highest score for anything on Robot Day and I think it will win Daily Feature! And who says robots can't feel emotion?

Thank You for the honest review! I would have liked to expand more on the story but I ran out of time if I wanted to get this in for Robot Day. With that said, I am so thankful that this is being so well received. I may expand on this in the future or maybe make pt.2 for next years Robot Day :D Cheers!

Good, but could have been better

Just when the animation was getting really interesting, it ended, and very abruptly. for a second i thought that the female robot would get up and do something, or whatnot. You know, get some closure on the subject for the audience. To borrow from another reviewer, it looks like you ran out of patience in the end.

And while the suspense factor was well done, it could have been supplemented with a desperate chase back to the robots home or something. Just a thought!

Storywise, I wasn't able to percieve a whole lot. Sure, the robot fixes other robots for a hobby or living, but why the heck was he willing to give up his life for the other 'bot? Was it his wife? or love? or was he simply programmed to be ridiculously compassionate and selfless? No one knows except you of course. You don't even have to add a whole lot to explain things either, if you decide to change it. just little things like the robot looking a photograph containing the the girl 'bot or something.

Lastly, the animation itself wasn't too bad, but it also looked incredibly flat like moving paper over paper. I suggest adding shadows and lighting to help suggest depth.

Anywho, just my suggestions/observations. I know it's a long list of criticisms, but honestly it wasn't too shabby at all, and I see a lot of potential here. Just needs a few improvements, and then it will be awesome.

I agree with everything you wrote. Thank you for the constructive criticism :)

Purpose/Story: 7/10 (very relevant)
Music/Sound: 8/10 (relevant)
Animation/Style: 8/10 (relevant)
Length: 10/10 (not so relevant)
FunFactor: 8/10 (very relevant)

Three different scenes: Dog, bombardment and pink robot.
And they don't make any reference to one another, I mean, why drop bombs? What's up with the dog in the beginning?
Too many questions, no answer...
And the robot friggin dies at the end, without accomplishing anything.
Well, he tried, though.
