Reviews for "Top Defense"

game hard :(

Not bad...not bad at all

Normally, I'm not a fan of TD games, but this one held my attention for quite some time--over an hour actually--which is VERY surprising since as I said: I'm not a fan of these games. I liked all the different weapon systems, how you had to take over an entire defense outpost and protect the missile silos...but there are some bad points to this game...actually that're not bad points...more like suggestions:

1. I did not like the cooldown timers on the weapons. The only one that you could "rapid fire" was the cannon; which was rather weak even when powered up. I'd like to see the cooldows taken out so that you could use ALL the weapons whenever you wanted and not have to wait for them to be ready.

2. Make the Energy resource that you use to power up and buy new weapons a constant thing...not taking it back to zero at every stage and don't take all the weapons systems back to their lowest level at every new stage either. As the stages get harder you need those powered up weapons.

3. I don't think it's fair to remove the mines you already placed on the field from the screen when you set up a new pattern of them. I know you want it to be a challenge but still I think letting the player keep at least 2 set ups of mines from both of the minefield layers of the screen at the same time would still present a challenge since they don't do that much damage.

Just 3 little tweaks that I think would make the game a little better...this does have the makings of a great game...I think adding my 3 suggestions would take it over the top into an epic game. But YOU are the creator so I shall leave it in your hands to add or not to add.

Meh...

Kinda fun... but I just couldn't keep going... too slow.

Pretty good.

My game froze immediately following the second level, but all things considered, it's a good defense game.

Good Game... 7 stars... heres why.

Ok so here's the deal. Good game. Really. I enjoyed every minute that I played it and I played it for a solid 15 minutes which is a pretty sound amount of time for me to play a flash game considering I have an XBOX 360 and games for my Macbook. I have, however been an avid flash game player ever since the days of dial-up (that was a pain in the ass. It took just as long to load the game as it took to beat it. More if the game was long.)

Ok, now onto the review. The thing I liked the most was the simple, engaging, and most importantly; SHORT tutorial WHILE playing the campaign. The game was very ergonomic (that means user friendly and user friendly means it's easy to use or understand for the less intelligent or the more foreign folks in the bunch.)

Although not a completely original concept with the defense and point and click scenario the game was quite original in the weapons aspect. The hot keys were easy and there wasn't too many to memorize in order to make you good at the game. One thing I would have liked, and I believe this was mentioned in DesignerDARM's review is some tower defense elements and more enemies that way you can implement a strategy element in the action and skill gameplay.

There are 2 reasons why I rated this lower: 1. Because the graphics were about as good as a drawing for my 2 year old and yes... I did say ABOUT. Maybe you should have spent a little more time on it. You had great ideas for the game and it seemed like you rushed the development process just to get to the programming aspect... if you were less intelligent and less creative then that would have been a fatal error. (I'm just speculating anyways and I don't mean to be insulting I'm just trying to shed some light in hopes that the sequel will be a lot prettier because I am looking forward to a sequel.)

And 2. There was a very small strategic element and this is a defense game?!? Sure there was strategy in the upgrade system (which I didn't mention before but it's good but a tad bit generic in comparison to the weapons and target cursor.) And sure, there was strategy in deciding which vehicles to destroy with which weapons (That was my favorite part of the game... you see how far strategy can get you? That's pretty much the biggest reason why my rating is as high as it is.) But a few other elements could have been put into play too. Not just towers but also maybe a hero system or resources other than "free points." Those are just to name a few and I'm sure you get the point.

Good game man keep it up. If you do come out with a pretty version for a sequel please message me I'd be more than happy to check it out and I'll definitely play this game again because I'm adding it to my favorites!
