Lots of fun, really creative

Thank you for letting me relive my childhood games in a twisted funny version. This is the best game I have probably played on newgrounds so far :D

This game, my God, this game...

What can I say, you knocked one out of the park here!

Was it a Metroid clone? Sure, but I ask you, what exactly is wrong with that?

tl;dr version: This game is fun. Play it. You'll like it.

In depth version begins now!

To begin, the very premise of this game is great. It's simplistic, silly, and gives you just enough purpose to make you play. I mean, come on, legendary snails. The perfect sort of thing for an flash gamer. The appearance has a similar sort of appeal, it's very simple, and some of the environments and enemies are just so out there it's fantastic. The entire world is delightfully disjointed and provides itself to gameplay very well. It doesn't hurt if you're a fan of flixel games. The music fits each of the levels perfectly, and is all very well done.

The upgrades are nicely placed, give a good sense of progression, and are very rewarding. It was hugely satisfying going from being a simple jumping snail to virtually flying through worlds blasting massive rainbow blasts and decimating baddies. Boss fights were just the right amount of challenging for each level. Moon Snail in particular was just the right amount of difficult.

It even brought a little something of its own into the playing field by way of gravity controls. It was a Metroid clone, sure, but it had a couple of its own unique little bits and pieces.

If I were to add anything to this game, it would be a few more side-quests. The Helix-Fragment quest was neat, but I think it would nice to bring a bit more to the questing table. Of course this could just be the RPG nut in me rattling its cage.

If you do decide to make a sequel to this, I greatly look forward to it. This game was fun, quirky, and a joy to play!
