Reviews for "Snailiad"

Nothing slowing this snail game down

This game is the quintessential of a platformer. Great 8-bit feel with the graphics and the music, comical characters, and a mix of several aspects that I'm sure I can't even cover.

Now I admit I'm not that familiar with the metroid series, but I do get the references with the doors and such and at this time, I have not finished the game (Stompy stomped me hard.) I surprisingly get a slight Zelda feeling with it, especially with the shell collecting in some aspects and VVVVV with its sticking to walls, although I'm many games have used that before. Also nice one with the turtle.

I can't wait to finish this and if I could suggest anything, it would be to make a sequel that is larger and downloadable. I would undoubtedly place this in my library of games. Excellent work and hope to hear more about Snailiad in the future.

Like metroid

but of course, with snails.

This game is just as awesome as metroid ever was, and having snails just makes it better.
do you ever plan on making the odysnail?

auriplane responds:

I'd like to! I was calling it Snailysses, but my friends informed me that "Snailysses" was an even stranger title than "Snailiad" :-)

Amazing

That's how all games should be like! I really love this platformer. Lots of fun, reminds me of my childhood :)

Woot

Very Imaginative and fun! My favorite part was trying to find the secret boomerang. The artwork could've been better but overall it was a great experience! My only advice on beating slug mode is to learn to dodge (took me forever). And I don't think the snelk room medal works because I found a room with the snlek in it and the medal doesn't show up.

auriplane responds:

There are a few rooms with lone snelks, but the Snelk Rooms have LOTS of snelks. You'll know them when you see them :-)

Absolutely beautiful.

I think it's safe to say that this is just about as much fun as i've ever had with a platformer. thinking like a snail took some getting used to, but i ended up loving the game so hard that i took the time to find all 100% items. i still can't find your first snelk room, damitall, but i'll get there! somehow!

The gravity snail upgrade was absolutely brilliant. after getting used to it, moving around was just such a breeze. it's part of what made the exploration so fun.

Thank you so much for making a competent endboss. i don't think i could've stomached an anticlimactic weakling. i will say this, though- knowing to use the invinci-shell ability sucked all of the challenge out of its deadliest attacks. Maybe you should make that ability less powerful?

if there's just one criticism i would make, it's that the art is somewhat lacking. the flat colors of all the characters and the environments is kind of out of place in such a great game.

Anyway, wonderful work. i'd love to see more from you in the future!
