Tips
This is a great and extremely hard game which I almost beat (but I went too far from the river...), but I have some tips to help people.
-You only need to keep one need bar running for the game to continue, I suggest hunger.
-First go along the west coast and pick those apples and get some water, then find the fishing rod. Stock up on fish and you can make sure he is never hungry.
-Get a fire going so the fish are more useful.
-Once you have hunger stabilized you can play the game!
Needs a sequel
This is a pretty great game, and while hard, is NOT impossible-
The important thing is to remember that you can have one or two bars empty and keep going- those buildings are more important than sleep, dammit!
You will want to get ALL the tools first, making sure to grab apples along the way(they're great for healing)!
Then build a fireplace, hammock, and altar. Those will take care of your needs while you get a plank-maker and rope-maker built. Then, just collect stone, meat, leather, and wood.(mostly stone and wood)
Build cabins and the happy shack if you feel the need. Nothing is more important than your time!
It would be pretty hard to get ALL the buildings though, or the Above 25% achievements. But thats why they're optional, I suppose.

great game, needs more stuff
great game but it needs more to do. I finished the fort on the 4th day and had everything build by like the 6th or 7th day. fun though!

great game / also I found the easy way to conquer this game through the fishing pole and staying close to the river so that way you need for food and water is provided but I wasn't expecting the cannibal attack in the end turns out when you have all things set you need to collect a lot of rocks and save some deer skins if anyone finds this info useful please vote this up for other peoples bennefit
