Reviews for "Myth Runner"

A bit easy

The game got kind of monotonous after a bit because it never picked up. The speed never increased, the obstacles never really got in the way, etc. The most dangerous thing was using the abilities, because they had a tendency of launching you prone into the air when they ran out, making it a crapshoot as to whether or not you land on a building. This was a particular issue with Harry. It would have been nice if the player had a grace period where they could manually deactivate the abilities so they could land where they wanted to.
The idea was interesting, but the powers didn't feel varied beyond aesthetics. Jaws and Harry played the same way, Jacob played the same way as the normal character. I understand the time constraints, but I still feel the game needed more substance to be really fun. If, for example, turning into Harry turned the game into a bullet-dodging sort of deal where you could defeat enemies and collect pickups to prolong the duration of the ability or it was shortened by colliding with things, it would extend gameplay value for me. Again, I understand that there were time constraints, but from my (admittedly limited) experience with Flash, that doesn't take too long to do.
Overall, it wasn't a bad game, but it just lacked content and difficulty for me.

Eh...

This is obviously a Canabalt clone which doesn't have to be a bad thing necessarily, but it is here. First of all, you almost can't control your jump distance. Secondly, jump doesn't always work, and the game usually has a bad response time. Thirdly, I don't know is it only me, but game start to lag badly when I'm on those falling buildings (I see you fixed it, but it still isn't working and it can get very frustrating). Moreover, I don't get it... It has the characters, but I don't see any references to those books and movies except the characters. But I really like the music and the ability to transform. So... I understand you had to make it in two days and it still (although it's not very good) has to offer more than some other game jam, and even regular, games, so here's a 7.

Fair gimmick

Not that Im a particular fan of any of the book series used for inspiration here, but the mechanics work out fairly. One thing I'd say would have been nice would have been a way to control jump height. Precision jumping is key on any platformer and to lack at least the ability to control how high I jumped is a functionality that's been present in gaming for 30 years, so lacking it here is rather awkward.

Everything else worked fine, though, so I'll give a 7 for effort.

fun idea but....

big problem character sprite so small i found i got eye strain and so challenge was playing it was trying to keep.

if i cud have stretched this to full screen in scale id have probably scored way higher

It's an ok game.

It's a different game with a pretty original idea, but the game itself isn't amazing. The gameplay is no different than many games and without the medals this game would be just that, just another regular game. It does get boring after you get the medals and people just stop playing after that. It's only been made in 2 days, but still, I have to rank it among other games so I'll give it a 7.

=========================
The secret medals (with their description):
1. TRANSFORM MASTER: perform 9x transform (100 points)
2. ANNOYING DEATH POSE: seeing how Jacob the werewolf death pose! Very annoying (5 points)
3. BOOK COLLECTOR: maxed all the books meter (100 points)
