Reviews for "Armored Fighter : New War"

Good, but not very good. Bad, but not very bad.

The good: gorgeous fluid animation of the mech's movement; crush mechanics; nice graphics; fun story.
The bad: too hard; biomass takes a lot of time to accumulate to buy even some of the basic upgrades; individual mods cannot be upgraded, biomass must be shelled out for a whole new mod; boring gameplay.
The ugly: OH GOD MY LANGUAGE CENTER! Please, if you're going to make a flash game in English, make sure you have firm command of the language before setting out.

Really, the very best part for me was how fluidly the mecha was animated, with fallbacks on the legs' positions. Not many games I've seen put that much detail into it. Crush mechanics was almost properly implemented, sometimes the mech would get stuck on the odd wreck without being able to crush it, especially when walking backwards.
The upgrade system could use an overhaul, for example by making the individual mods upgradeable, like user 'Twad' said in the reviews.
Some twists could be added to the gameplay, to make a difference from the usual moveforward-defend-shooteverything-ha rvest-repair-repeat cycle. And no, having enemies coming at me from both sides is not variation.

Good game

But I could not finish. I got stuck half-way towards the back edge of the screen and couldn't move. Since I couldn't figure out a way to return to the menu, I kept going to the pause screen in hopes of finding some way out. Other than that, it's a very nice game.

cool game i love how you can use machine gun to destroy the people etc but one criticism i just destroyed like 30 men and then this one rambo with a pistol thinks he can destroy my robot, oh please it would be nice if they was running away more realistic and give civilians to kill and more things to blow up for points like pet stores and news helicopters

Not really fun

If im going to have a big-ass robot of doom.. i dont want to be limited in a 2d plane for mobility where i cant really crush/run over buildings/troops that are in the way. We actually get stuck every 5 inch foward and forced to fight the ennemy on their terms. So the fact that we are a robot of doom is meaningless, we could be a kinda fragile glob of jelly that eat people and get the same result.

Weapon info isnt enough. At all. I wont ever buy stuff blindly. I want to know how a new weapon behaves BEFORE i buy it (is it a machine gun? a bomb? How much AoE does it have, if any? Is the power cost good for its effect or is it a newb trap?)
What are the stats of the basic gun? Does it do 1 damage? How much hp an infantryman have? a chopper? I dont know if a 30 dmg weapon is really better than a 4 dmg weapon (and i dont feel like losing time and ressources just to test that)

What is armor? is it damage reduction or is it my HP?

Why implants when the robot is clearly mechanical? Why not modules.. or making the robot look like its organic?

Some upgrades could take one slot, but upgrade. Like power/armor.. they dont need (i thinK) to take 17 differents slots to be of use. (to buy them) . Just put them on a single slot that can be purchased/upgraded multiple times.

Grew bored of it after the first level. Way too repetitive and bland. Its just more of the same, no real need for strategy and we dont really need to think to play.
Just keep shield and space pressed. Shoot. Crush. Rinse and repeat.

Well made, but not fun imho.
