Reviews for "Chessboard #1"

this is...

quite a simple piece..the shading, gradient is exceptional and the drawing is not half bad :D

Quite good

I really like the way you shaded and coloured with the filters.
However you could've spended more time on the the linework and details, for the linework you used the line tool, no brushes. And apart from the filters there's not much detail.

Maybe use a little less filters, and add some more detail. Also, there's not much going on, try to make it look a little more interesting.. It's a nice piece of art though.

You and your strange fixation with checkerboards

I say that only because I'm reviewing his one after i reviewed the other two lol

This feels incomplete. The "Fog" effects seem to be just kind of there, not really doing much, just there. There needs to be more connectivity with the white spots, or a shown reason as to why the spots are like that.

The chess piece looks a bit strange but it's not terrible. The checker board itself looks alright, though it looks like it may have ended suddenly in the back. And the positioning of the checker board to the background seems a bit strange to me.

It's not bad, but could use some work. =3

Too much fog

While I like the three dimensional qualities of the board, it's not present at all in the playing piece, so you really do tend to fall down a little there.

I guess that you've tried to get the background sorted for perspective, but it doesn't seem to work very well, as the concentric squares are out of proportion, so they don't decrease in size at a uniform rate.

If you removed some of the fog from the piece, you'd have a more crisp looking finished piece, which might suddenly look better - tell me, is the chess piece a knight from the back, a rook, or something else? I'd have suggested that you gave it a shiny finish, as that's what these sort of playing models tend to be - finished in a gloss and well kept for games which are quite large in ceremony.
