Reviews for "The Legend of Eden *DEMO*"

Nothing special..

Hold the space bar down and move up and down. Big whoop. No powerups? Not even any fun. Can win easily.

Another point to add...

...in addition to the other reviewers' concerns, it seems that even though you shoot the enemy, they can still damage your shields after the fact. A bit frustrating.

Nice!

This is one of the coolest arcade game on NG. Most of the others don't even have a background lol. The graphics could be a bit more detailed and you need weapon upgrades!!!! Other than that its a good game.

Good start

It was good, but it's missing some key elements of a side-scrolling shooter (SSS). I don't know if you have these planned for the final release of your game, but allow me to offer these suggestions nevertheless.

For starters, in most SSS's, the player starts of with weak weaponry, and works their way up to a more powerful ship. This means there has to be some way to power up the ship's weapons. Whether it be with floating capsules, or by purchasing upgrades after completing a level (which means points == money), the decision is entirely up to you as a game developer. Screen clearing "super-bombs" are also an added bonus for those 'hard to get out of' situations.

Some variety in the types of enemies encountered in a level would help to break some of the monotony of just holding down the space bar, and shooting at anything that moves. Some enemies could have a higher power level than others. You did have obstacles that needed to be avoided in the first level, so you did good there.

Finally, I felt the game didn't provide enough feedback. Whenever my ship was struck, I never knew unless I looked at my shield status in the top right corner. This has the negative effect of constantly distracting me from the game to affirm that I was hit. Instead, what could be done was to have a picture of a "shield" of some sort super-imposed over the ship to indicate the shield had been hit, and an explosion sfx, thereby giving the feedback required by the player.

Anyway, I didn't mean to prattle on like this. Try not to think of this as nitpicking so much as providing helpful ideas on how you can improve yourself as a game developer. These are all just suggestions, which, unfortunately, the more you add the more complex the code becomes. In the long run, however, the decision is entirely up to you, but the more effort you put into your game, the more people will hopefully appreciate it. Good luck, from one game developer to another.

not bad

Even though this isnt the kinda game i like i still thought it was presented very well looks pretty cool at the briefing just like real computer games.u could have made the ship look a bit better. the music was pretty good too. maby next time u should try doing a first person shooter.
