Good
Very well done - the balance was pretty good, and the play control was very smooth. I got to the zord, but perished just before he died, unfortunately.
A big thing that I would recommend... A savepoint/replay feature for the boss, or maybe for each wave. There was no way I was going to go through the entire game again just because I barely lost to the boss. Seems a bit cruel to put us through all of that just because we've yet to get a feel for the boss man's mechanics.
Other than that - I thought the expanded clip was a bit of a double edged sword. It was great to have more ammo, but that also meant more time reloading. Maybe if you compressed it to X seconds to load a clip, no matter the size. Then maybe the reload speed "perk" would need tweaking, I don't know, but it seemed a bit off to me.
Also, by the time I got all 3 'active' upgrades, I only had a round or 2 to use the last one. I'd love to be able to use them on the boss, though of course that would require a bit of retooling. It just seems kinda cheap to strip away those tools when I most need them. I understand the need to do so in order to keep the boss challenging, but I think you could have incorporated them in the fight, seeing as it's almost guaranteed that we'd all have them by that point (which is a very good thing from a game balance perspective, by the way, nicely done)
The animation was good. Cartoony, simple, not much more needed. Anything else would have been extra gravy - not a bad thing, but not necessary. The sound and music were fine. Other than that, it was a really decent version of a genre that's been done many times. Not much new added, but balanced and fun nonetheless. A few tweaks and you'd have a great game, for now though, it's a good game. Thank you for the experience!
