Reviews for "The Essay"

Cool idea; terrible bugs.

Of course we're not able to type the whole thing. It's incredibly buggy to the point where we can't. There was actually a point where I sat there typing one letter at a time to make sure that they registered, and even that didn't always work.

The idea is simple though nice, but those bugs were infuriating within the first minute or two.

Also, if the whole point of the game is to type as quickly as possible, one of the biggest things that should be allowed is fast typing. If I typed too quickly, it didn't register ANYTHING and would start freezing and locking up.

Something to do

That's pretty much all it was. It's clever as a concept, but in reality it's not that entertaining. More an exercise in satisfying the ego with a pointless challenge. Nice try.

not fast enough.

I had to SLOW DOWN my typing to get the game to recognize that I was hitting the keys. Poor coding. =( Not fun.

Buggy

I often found that it wouldn't register my keystrokes. Perhaps it's because I type too quickly, and whenever I built up some speed it would fail to register one and I'd get backlogged again. You should include punctuation in what you're required to type; I spent a lot of time hitting punctuation marks before realizing I didn't need to, but it can be helpful to slow a typist down some... particularly your heavy use of quotation marks. I, personally, find those the hardest.

Anyway, my biggest problem is with the inability to keep up with my fast typing. I don't know where it started failing; I know that I never got up to speed, so maybe it was at 80wpm it failed, or maybe it was 100, but I'm sure that I made the keystrokes, and it happened many times.

What?

I don't understand how to keep the essay above the line. Maybe some instructions on how to do that?
