but it got boring... im going to stop playing now ( 2nd to last stage ). it reminded me ot katamari forever which i have and enjoy alot
For a Katamari Damacy clone, you could do worse.
I love the comics in-between most of the stages, and I like the deliberately too-happy tone the graphics and music provide for the death of everything as we know it.
But I really think that it could be a better game if you provided more than a couple of specific things to pick up in the levels, and that the spawn rate for the things you HAVE to consume in mass amounts to complete the levels needs to go up. It got annoying having to scour the entire levels over and over for the ONE enemy I could pick up that inevitably spawned on the other side of the map, and if you're going to use the medal system to complain that I'm not completing stages fast enough, I kind of need the means to actually beat the levels in those times- and because I really don't want to spend three or four minutes eating the same three or four things over and overto improve my time, I'm thinking that the whole medal system is really kind of a transparent ploy to FORCE replay value, which the game obviously lacks.
You've definitely got the idea here as far as what made a good game tick, but you definitely need to iron out some of the problems your game has before I'd bump it up to a 10.

Good points. Katamari Damacy is an awesome game, but I should point out that it wasn't the only inspiration for Tasty Planet. The original "growth game" was Shark Shark for the Intellivision, which I played when I was very young. Feeding Frenzy is another popular game in this genre, which borrowed mostly from Shark Shark. So Tasty Planet isn't a clone, it's part of a genre (albeit a small genre). You don't call every World War 2 shooter a clone, do you?

Not exactly a challenging game, but it's nice on the eyes and it's fun to play. There could have been 3 or 4 more levels, maybe other galaxies to consume. Other than that, it's quite a nice game.
