Reviews for "Hyperborea"

This was good

I was hoping for some more action particularly with how the guy was captured, but this was still good. While not as influential as the Brackenwood series, I can see this becoming popular. The best thing is the animation and how smoothly everything flows. It is good that you did not try to go for anything superficial. The funniest part of it was when the enemies were being set on fire slowly. I have no idea what any of the words used in this mean, especially the title.

It got better as it went along, so it stalled a little in the beginning. It was pretty unpredictable with how the butterfly cut the guy free. I doubt there was any deep meaning to this, just a simple story was what you intended. The music is very good, especially at the very end. I can tell you put a lot of effort into making the landscapes.

Thanks for the review. The meaning behind things is what you perceive, so my intentions are secondary.

WTF ing Hell ?!?

Koold you be more original than that ?.....
-_-

Fun

Somewhat surreal but kinda fun, loved the little touches (like the blood when our beak-guy's being dragged) and the guys on fire... Poor vicious apple tree though!

exotworking responds:

Surrealism is always fun

Pretty Good

Strong story and art through out. Well timed and intresting. Things I would change, is the segment where he broke the guy and put him in the pot needed more inbetweens! and I think the ogres at the end should have looked more burned/dead. Anyways neat style and was visually very nice. Pretty polished - good effort, you did your script justice

exotworking responds:

Actually they are not ogres but cyclops. Thanks for the review :3

I like it, yeah

Story mostly about violence, from different perspectives - bullying, hunting, and revenge, with humorous tones, but all in all quite serious. No moral evaluation of violence, the song at the end states, that it is "the one law". I like that the movie leaves all evaluation to the viewer, encouraging him to think.

I kind of don't understand the title - sign at the end of the movie suggest, that traveler hasn't reached Hyperborea yet. I don't like butterfly armed with a knife - without any explanations of its appearance it is too much of deus ex machina for me.

So, very nice movie. Thanks for creating it. I definitely wait for more.

exotworking responds:

Your review is very thoughtful, thanks for writing it. And yes, the butterfly is a deus ex machina, but I have no problem with that. I think life is full of deus ex machinas :)
