Reviews for "Book of Mages: Dark Times"

i won and had a tittle of satan people are so mean but those white robes were winning 25 21 and i didnt stop the war or spare any xD

Step one: Play Chaos Desert
Step two: Amas enough training points to get max high and low bolts
Step three: Go to the magic master to get extra high and low bolts, and rank them up to max as well
Step four: Obtain enough mana so that you don't run out halfway through a fight
Step five: Obtain the extra attacking bolts special attack from the magic master, and rank them up to max
Step six: Collect the Burning special from the magic master.
Step seven: Learn the Drain Special skill.
At this point, you should have won the Young Mage Contest.
Step eight: Go the the Wilderness in Chaos Desert. You will find a graverobber there. Accept his bribe. This will come into play later.
Sidenote: Always fight in the arena if you can avoid the mana cave. You will get one training point if you lose, and win two if you win. This makes it the faster option.
Step nine: Continue ranking up your abilities and such. I don't quite remember when, but eventually, the town crier will say something and some more options will open up when it comes to exploring. Go to Darkwood, and go to the wilderness to find the graverobber. Take his bribe again, for it is the single most overpowered item in the game.
Step eleven: At this point, you will be shooting eleven bolts instead of ten, which means that you can get a decrease special bolt in, leaving them wide open to use burning+extra bolts. This means you are basically invincible (as long as you have enough mana and health)
Step twelve: (optional) once you hit rank one, badger the mysterious hermit until he fights you. Defeat him, and take your rightfully owned "Invincible" title.

Oh yeah, the game is great too. 5/5

I finally managed to become rank 1 in the book of mages and become great mage. Poison water FTW

I think this game is great the replay value is insanely impressive, and the campaign is actually long enough. Although one of my critiques is that some of the mechanics could be explained better. And also let me back out of picking a special ability if i decide i don't want to spend points on it. The same happened when trying to de select the poison ability during battle.

A really nice game. It's really fun to find all the different routes you can take.

For every clan, there's a good way to beat opponents. I will list one option for each of the clans.

Poison Water: Focus on defense with counter bolts to apply poison easily.
Great Sea: Same as Poison Water, except you have Mana Leak.
Ice Land: Freeze Defence and Freeze Attack are pretty solid ways to ensure a victory.
Dark Wood: While the Curse status is a good debuff, Silence is their main focus.
Chaos Desert: SPAM BOLTS! (seriously, that's all they do)
Burning Hill: That Combination Attack is almost always a surefire win. Not to mention a pretty useful bug...

About that bug.... The special magic Increase Power of Attacking Bolts grants +5 power. The Clan Magic Mana Attack doubles your power. Turning off the aforementioned special magic while Mana Attack is turned on causes your power to drop by 5, but then also turning off Mana Attack only halves your power again. For example: If you had 10 base power, you would have 30 with both of the buffs active and get 12,5 if you turn them off in the way I described.

In short: The power boost from the special magic is not counted as being doubled by Mana Attack.

Burning Hill mages can theoretically get infinite power for a single attack. This, together with the Combination attack, will cause a one-shot victory.

Nice RPG Games.. I looking forward for the games.. >.<
