Reviews for "the envy of the universe"

Excellent

I'm not an animator so I can't comment on this technically, but I enjoyed it. It was smooth, I liked the art and use of colour. The story I found interesting if not simple.

And ignore the guys saying whether this belongs on Newgrounds or not. Of course it does. It's animation, specifically Flash animation. Newgrounds is supposed to be a place to post your work so everyone can learn from their peers. And feed off the collective genius that is Newgrounds. The purpose of the animation is irrelevant. Keep up the good work.

Good message

I could not tell if the product placement was legitimate or if it was supposed to be parody. I think this is the first cartoon I have reviewed that came out this year. I was not too impressed at first, because the animation was alright and there did not seem to be much going on. What does matter is that you addressed the situation of how important our space stations are and stuff. I knew something like that was going to happen at the end. The funniest part was probably when he said he understood Earth's gestures more.

The voice acting was good. It seems like you were trying to match what the were emoting as the dialogue came out. So Tempur-Pedic is the one mattress where the wine glass doesn't fall off? Oh yeah, that led to another great moment about why you would want to do that in the first place, but you could. There could have been more action seeing as how it had aliens, but I am guessing that was not the goal. I had no idea the space guys owned that many brands.

Not Bad, But Not Good.

I really do want to give this a higher score, but I can't.

The art work was pretty good. The background was actually really nice, but there was only one throughout the entire several minutes of dialogue.

The animation in this was also quite nice, very smooth lines, as I'm sure you used the pencil tool. The lip synch was also very nice but could have used more transitional mouths, perhaps slightly more accurate too. I suggest staying away from tweening so much and try some frame by frame, tweening looks good mixed in, but gets really repetitive when that's ALL there is to it.

Voice acting wise, not bad. The microphone was pretty top notch, and emotion was pretty clear throughout the character interaction.

The only real issue I had was the biggest one. That's the writing. Maybe I don't have your sense of humor, but I didn't detect any comedy here at all. Temperpedic? A sandwich? It all seemed super unnecessary. I mean, especially with the subject of an alien visiting earth. You could have played off of real differences between the two instead of bringing up random things.

It also bothered me that the entire thing was just one big advertisement. I wouldn't mind as much if all of your stuff wasn't advertisements. I went back and looked at your previous stuff, and it's all a plug for some product or company.

It's good to know that you're getting paid for this, but I don't know if Newgrounds is the right place for advertisements. It just feels off to me.

You definitely have the skills to make something worth while, try writing your own stuff that isn't an advertisement, could be interesting.

Good luck man, just work on that stuff.

quiet cool

yep, it was quiet cool

Like it mate

Great animation and good humour for everyone to appreciate, but i do agree with Xivai about the product placement, allthough personally i think the Space foundation is one of the few organisations that doesent annoy me with sublimate advertising.
