Reviews for "Escape from ice mountain"

I tried

I tried to enjoy it. the space bar command didnt do anything half the time. I like the work put into it, but its hard to play a game that doesnt work. 3 stars for the effort

MonoFlauta responds:

It doesnt work very well because we didnt have to much time to test, but well, thanks for reviewing

The more games I see for this competition,

the more I hate the idea. I'd love to go off on a rant about how absolutely lovely it is that you can make a game in three days but that producing half-assed work just pisses me off, but I won't. However, I will say that putting up a game that doesn't work is infinitely worse in my eyes than putting up a game that's just boring or easy. I'd rather boring than broken.

I saw that you posted a response to someone else's comment about how the file doesn't work, and you just said to keep trying. Well I can 100% tell you that it does not. I'm not sure why it won't work for ours and does for others, but I have refreshed more than five times, redoing it again and again to try to make it work, but nothing seems to initiate the command. If you move away from where you're standing, you don't get the space action back. However, even when I don't move and I DO have the command, the command won't activate. The fact that you said 'it doesn't work well' should be an indicator something is wrong. And time is no excuse -- there are games I've played that're in this competition that do.

Overall, would have been a nice game if it worked. I usually like these types of games a lot, but I don't have patience for a game that may-or-may-not/'doesn't work well.' Sorry.

MonoFlauta responds:

Ok, i know the space thing doesnt work well, but WORKS, just try, everyone has the same flash so doesnt matter where you play it as long has any flash player, also, if you dont like this type of competition, is not my fault, please if you are going to score or more, if you are going to review, review it from the point of the competition, if not, please reserve yourself.
THanks anyway for the review

...

I know that you had 72 hours to work on it, but like the guy below me, It is too glitchy. I couldn't grab the key, and when I accidently went into the prison again, I was stuck. No way out.

MonoFlauta responds:

You couldnt because, "like the guys below me" didnt get everything, as i told them, just see the walktrough, if you cant win is not fault of the game.

easy, short, and dull...

I found this game really dull and short. Way too easy. Excelent for kids 7 and under, but for the majority of the audience, definately a waste of time.

MonoFlauta responds:

ok, its your point of view, anyway, the sequel will be better

Buggy and Boring

When I started with this game, I was really excited. I love point and click adventures, I love "escape from the room" genres and I loved the artwork in the game. There was so much going for this game in those first couple of seconds.

But then I played the game itself and it was bad. Really bad. I mean, I appreciate that you only had 72 hours to make this game, but the end result was hardly a game at all. It was boring, it was simple and it was BUGGY.

I encountered every bug under the sun. The game would tell me to press space when I couldn't do anything, there were dialogue boxes that would pop back up after the dialogue was finished, when I left one room I'd often wind up in some weird area in the next room and then there were times when I could use an item but I had to be standing on the exact pixel you had assigned to it or it wouldn't work at all.

Yet, despite all these drawbacks, I managed to beat the game in maybe three minutes. It was just about as challenging as an episode of "Dora the Explorer." In fact, in several instances I felt like I was literally playing a little kid's game. Anything you needed was just laying out in front of you, ready to be picked up. The guards provided no challenge and allowed you to just walk around freely.

In the end, there's not much to like about the game, other than the details. Like I said before, I liked the art and I thought the story had a good premise. But the game itself LACKS severely. I would go as far as to say you guys submitted an unfinished game here. Needs work.

MonoFlauta responds:

Well... we had 72 hours, maybe being so rude with the sequel will be better than with this it hink
