JonBro!

This isn't the best game I am sorry to say. I agree parshally with Uberpig but I still think you can make the game fun. It isn't the best from you but certainly not the worst.

So many dick moves...

Let me count the ways...
I really liked this game but I'm giving you a low score for several reasons.
One: level 7. Getting the momentum you needed to throw the button was more luck than judgement.
Two: level 19. Pixel perfect jumping + loose controls = platform hell.
Three: The level select DOESN'T WORK! So that means I have to go through the entire game again, just to get the second ending?
In summation: brilliant concept + sections made infuriating by poor design + a calculated f*** you to the player = fail.

in future games install a mute button

i like to listen to music while playing games.....

Interseting idea, lacking in level design

This game is so great, as a puzzle/platformer. The game tended to have an odd difficulty curve, at times the optional coin was much easier to reach than the key to exit the level, but that was good enough, after all, It is a fun game, and some inconsistency is expected. That is, until level 19.

Level 19 really felt like a slap in the face. Not only was it terribly hard in a game that had been relativity easy up until now, but it ignored the one idea that the whole game was based on, the respawning. It was like playing portal, then instead of having a final puzzle in the last testing chamber, it cut to I wanna be the guy.

TL;DR
Good, until chapter 19.

Bug report and critique

[Level select comment removed]
During level 19 I noticed that the movement was sticking, more than usual. The character would keep going in one direction after the key was released. I thought it was just my keyboard until I noticed the walk cycle wasn't playing.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***
The game was fully enjoyable for the first 18 levels, but level 19 was unusually harsh and didn't fit in. As for the ending, the statement is beautiful and needs to be heard, but this didn't quite seem the place. After playing a whole game about acknowledging game mechanics and disregarding death, an anti-suicide lecture is almost a non-sequitur, especially since gamer mentality will almost always choose to immediately replay the last level. It would make more sense as a message about accepting death, with caution, as in, "Death happens. It's a part of life. But we shouldn't abuse that fact."
In any case, saying "You only have one chance to respawn" is oddly worded. Technically this is saying that you only live twice. It would be better in the future to state what you mean instead of trying to work in terminology to fit the theme.

JonBro responds:

Hm. I don't think Level 19 should behave any differently than the others. That's weird.

I definitely understand and agree with you about the endings. I really just wanted to throw a moral in at the end of the game, but it was quickly apparent that there aren't any good morals for a game where you kill yourself over and over to reach a goal. So I think I tried to make it kind of cryptic and failed.
