Reviews for "-Maverick Feud-"

Reminds me of -The wanderer-
Sounds awesome, Really enjoying it. c:

So...

As both a gamer and an audiophile, I have to say that this is excellent work. Right from the introduction, your song establishes a strong connection to the old world of the Wild West as well as a glance forward into a slightly dystopic future. The sound of stomping hooves paired with a faint mechanical creaking was simple, yet catchy and effective way to do this. The song progresses in a smooth and journey-like manner, and I can totally hear this being used for a western themed level in a cool side-scroller (like Castle Crashers, obviously) where the objective is to reach a giant mechanical cowboy boss of some sort. Seriously, I have to give you massive props for accomplishing this so well, especially since you did it all in one evening.

Cheers!

Alex

:D ! Thank you! i really appreciate it. and that sounds like a cool scene. :D

It's a great song with a bit of cool flavor, but felt that this song was a bit drier than your normal 'muffled techno' songs, like NightSquad or the Gamegrumps Gojira Remix. I just felt that it was too repetitive for the SFX to relieve me of the repetition. In some songs, you pull it off wonderfully, but not so much in this one. I mean, from 0:14 to 0:37, it was the exact same sounds on drums and bass, looped for about 30 measures, without so much as even a chord change! However, the SFX during parts such as those, while way too quiet, were very well-done and I wish they'd been louder. You used the Western sounds well, and I could tell what you were trying to show with them.

If you were trying to write a top-notch or a death match-winning song, this isn't it. But, as gadogry said, for an experimental piece, it's brilliant. I've never heard you make this sort of music before, so it's natural that it shouldn't be as good as some of the stuff you're more comfortable or have more experience with. Great work.

Waterflame responds:

Thank you for the helpful review! :) I guess what blinded me was my cinematic vision of the song, its almost like i fitted it to a non-existing action scene. And i agree there is some serious volume issues in the middle part on 2 of my 3 headset's, should have checked that first. thanks!

Great atmosphere... the driving percussion was nice... mixing is top-notch as usual from you.

I just feel that the main theme got a bit repetitive. I think this can benefit from a second theme or a different/longer chord progression. Right now it feels like the song plateaued pretty early and the rest was either "pretty much the same melody" or "bunch of cool sfx but no melody".

Overall, not bad for an experimental quickie. Keep up the good work!

Waterflame responds:

Thank you! And yeah I kinda agree, I could have done much more with this, But since it was such a unplanned short thing, I diddn't have a chance to give it that extra day, come back to it and see what it might need. Maybe ill do a take 2 some day, thanks for the input!

Okay, this is totally awesome! :D I love the busy techno beat and the instruments. You combine heavy and energetic elements so well with light and atmospheric ones! Later on in the piece, it reminds me a lot of "The Wanderer." Well-structured, smooth-flowing, cool mood. Another excellent track, Waterflame! Keep it up! ;D

Waterflame responds:

Thank you! :D Glad what i tried to accomplish came across so well!
