Wtf?
Sorry, but we're players, not computers.
Look at this skill thing, and tell me what's wrong...
PARALIZE(sic)
Strikes with penalty -10.
Does not damage but the target
is stunned for Mutation rounds
if Strength+Stamina+Wrath+1d20
is higher than the target's
Stamina+Coordination+Fortitude+1d20
This is a skill, but how the FUCK am I going to understand that at all? It's so awful, the way these statistics are played to such an incomprehensible calculation. The only way I'd make sense of it is if I bought the target card in the tavern, wrote his stats down, and calculated it through the skill's equation. Am I going to do that? Is anyone? The answer is no.
Stats play too heavily in this game. I created a mutant tank class that has such high armor and defensive skills (parry, protection, etc.) that he's never hit. I can take on three opponents at once and the chance they hit me is extremely low. If they even do, the damage is single digits, always. The problem with this is that if my enemy has an agility build so that my attacks miss often, the fight just goes on and on, with neither managing any decent hits. The skills seem to do nothing, even with all that fancy shit it describes.
When looking at armor and weapons in the shop, the market values are completely fucked up. I have on armor that is compared to the shop's, and the shop armor has -5 initiative while mine has -3, but the value of that armor is more? I don't get it. I never get anything decent from my battles, so now I have close to 2000 (coins?) with nothing to buy. I don't need to see enemy stats, nor do I need allies, as I'm a brick wall anyway.
Back to stats - I have no idea what amount makes me how much better in the fights. If I dump my points into strength and attacks, I can't tell how much better I am during offense. It's just "numbers" on the stats page that don't make sense. If my initiative is 20, what does that mean? Does it mean if the enemy's is lower, I attack sooner? If I put a point in strength, how much more damage do I deal? It's not enough, yet the game is based off the stats anyway.
Finally, the fighting. It's just a turn-based graphic eye-candy, without the candy. The effects are lame, the music is bland, and the excitement factor is dull and predictable (swing, swing, swing, swing, power up, swing swing). This game is trying to copy or emulate Sonny RPG, but it has a stat system built for Fallout or some other free-roaming RPG. I mean, it's not really an RPG if all you do is get to visit two places and a battle arena, is it?
You're making a multiplayer version of this game? I really hope it's much, much better than what this game is right now.
