Beautiful and Fantastic
Everything about this game is just great. The main character is intriguing, yet reasonable. Not some 'mysterious stranger with a mysterious past' that you can't relate to. Just a humble story-teller that is using her skill to hopefully find out about herself. That in itself is the makings of a great story.
The next bit is the setting. It's alive and colorful. It has that awe for us that the mountains and tree should inspire, but the people in the story treat it as home. It's a very strong, yet passive feel that really enforces the setting.
Then you have the gameplay. Simplistic, yet rewarding. It's not so hard as to get stuck very easily, and easy enough that you don't really want to pull your hair out at any point.
The art is amazing. Each character is unique and really gets off the feel you were looking for. The scenes of interaction may not be animated, but they go a long way in showing who ARE in relation to them and vice versa. The art helps define who these characters are.
And then the idea that you 'win' when you have a story. Storytelling is a rich and dying art. I loved the idea that I was pulling together information to make a story. That in this world stories mean something.
This game is inspiring in dozens of ways and, rather than looking forward to the next game, I'd love to read this as a book. I'm positive it would be a huge hit. Until then, yeah, the next game can't come out soon enough.
