Reviews for "Real Life Absurdities"

The coffee is definitely not decaf... not with all the zaniness going on. Definitely super-charged caffeine.

I also add this to a thought to an excellent piece: "I reject your reality and substitute my own"

Great job... gotta love the NGADM!

steampianist responds:

i see.. well if you put it that way then the coffee must not be decaf :D

it seems you found the not so-underlying-message.
anyways thanks for the review and yes gotta love NGADM

Did I somehow stumble back in time to my childhood? This reminds me (rather violently, in fact) of a time when I didn't have to get up early for work, but instead had to watch my favorite Saturday morning cartoons! It's crazy, frenetic, fun, and quite simply insane. I love it! Music rarely makes me suddenly burst out laughing, and this did, so huge props for that. I'm sure that I looked like a mental patient to everyone else around me, but I don't care. Bonus points for such a superlative level of absurdity. Hooray for the NGADM, and best of luck to you!

Wait--you know the coffee-making guy in the sombrero, too? It's a small world after all...

steampianist responds:

ah the joys of being in a stupefied state in front of the tv... i can relate :D

anyways thanks for listening and i cant believe this made you laugh
im guessing you appreciate slapstick! btw i loved this is not the end
maybe i can ask for some piano sheet? :)

and yes i know the guy in the sombrero he makes one kick ass coffee
though i think the coffee is decaf XD

Oh my god... Well done. This is so insane. To be honest I like the opening/closing riff the most, the other stuff isn't quite as good, but whatever. The only thing holding me back from a 10/10 last time was melodies, but even those have improved, so I really have no choice.

I'm so happy that NGADM exists so that we can hear awesome pieces like this.

steampianist responds:

ah! so i finally got a 10 that's awesome.

thank you for the review.

Fact is, I really enjoyed this. It evokes many childhood memories and it's something this track is able to convey quite remarkably, in my opinion. While the structure seems sort of minimalist with a few variations on the same theme, it is indeed a solid piece where its minor problems would only be related to a coherency of sound compared to the overall mastering of the track (too much reverb on the brass instruments compared to the percussion?) which is at a professional level. So well done, good luck in this round and I'm glad to have a worthy opponent.

steampianist responds:

its always heart warming (if i had one) to know that people are reminded of their childhood!
and i love minimalism (erik satie)

ah it seems you are not sure? if the brass reverb is too much? hehe kidding anyways thanks for listening and im glad you enjoyed it, that was unexpected considering the kind of music you make and im looking forward to your track

I love the cartoon style of music. It is so chaotic, and actually requires quite a bit of skill to pull off correctly. You could definitely make stuff for kids.

The choice of lead instruments was quite interesting, lol. You also did a great job with the xylophone! Your composition is remarkable.

My only problem was the percussion. Not that it sounded unrealistic, but because there wasn't a lot of dynamics. With its volume turned up, I could easily pick it out and my OCD immediately was triggered.

5 Starz - 5 Vote

steampianist responds:

OH MY!!... Thank for reviewing this. im glad that you appreciate the chaotic element in this piece!

ah the percussion i have to agree with you.. though i did try to compensate with random percussive effects :D and im sorry for triggering your OCD :P
