Reviews for "Xionic Madness 3"

Never liked xionic.. this is the same

Sorry, but I can't help to be biased against these over-hyped, overrated types of animations. First of all, I know I'm not one to talk as my animations have zero story, but to me the whole plotline just seemed like a 14 year old's dream animation filled with action and "badass" lines that come off as extremely corny just like a poorly done, over popularized shonen anime.

Animation and art was fairly average as well. The colours used were way too solid and saturated for my liking and just the drawings looked really amateur. Most of the animation seemed extremely messy and average at best, however I did like some of the fast paced action scenes with the moving backgrounds despite the clutter. You have GOT to work on your muzzle flash though.. and your explosions.. and your blood.. really was a turn off.

Anyway.. just keep it up. Learn to draw and animate the basics before you go on to another big project would be my advice. kk, cya.

Xionico responds:

Thanks for the review :0! Indeed i have a lot to learn, just like everyone else, but I would lie if I told you I won't release another project until I master everything you stated, as that the way I learn. Yet I suppose it may never be of your liking as we have different animation styles, but I get your point ;)

See ya.

Eh...

Corny lines. Graphics don't suit the genre too well especially at the speed it was going since it can lead to things being just a blur that's difficult to follow. Or, more likely, simply ccause some people to lag since you offer no option to adjust the graphical settings, and even if you did, the art style would just make the low setting look like crap anyway.

Meh.

Was okay, but with a two year break since the last one, I was expecting something much better than that.

The animation and choreography remain above average as usual, but the character designs feel like somewhat of a step backward. The voice acting was flat -- you might as well have gone with no voice acting at all. The writing was sub-par -- I'll give you that I'm not expecting Shakespeare (one should never expect too much from any story that revolves around "Mystery Corporation X") but the plot suffers from a bad case of "seen it all before ad infinitum" syndrome, which I'm almost positive you could do better than.

Overall, it was okay, but my expectations for the upcoming finale have been lowered a fair bit.

Oh, and Kary appearing for all of two scenes doesn't help either. She's basically half the reason I even like this series to begin with.

Great but...

It was fun to watch but the voice actors really brought down the score I'll have to say. Thought it was a nice idea to add them, I can't say I liked it at all. Not to mention that the voices didn't fit the impression of the characters I had early on.

Good, but lots of improvement is needed

I have just finished watching through the series of your Xionic Madness and I quite like it. The art is good and the ideas are solid. Unfortunately I'm not a complete fit for the targeted audience , however, I think that this would give me a good chance to constructively give a decent review without any biased results so please read this for useful information.

The animation itself is jumpy and tricky to follow. I've always had a keen eye and can understand what is going on most of the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few other viewers didn't. Try in future to use story boarding or draw out the scene before animating it to get a better idea and a clear-er understanding of what the frame is going to look like. This should dramatically improve the structure of a scene. Also, dont rush new camera angles, such as first person views or heavy shaking into the viewer all the time. This can be distracting and disorientating and a real chore to watch. Think about using layers to add depth to the scene to brake from the traditional character>foreground>background display. This will add much more realism and dramatically improves the ability to watch without questions being asked like "is that a box, or a building?". Although the graphics of the animation had improved significantly since your first animation which is a great sign of improvement, there is still a lot of work to be done.

The music was ok at best, but then again, Im not into that style of music. Lots of the time however, the music completely overpowered the voice and sound effects, drowned out suspense building silence. This wasn't aided with the generic effects used. It didn't really give this a very original feel. Next time, try to use more original sound effects and also try to use silence to give some juxtaposition to the animation. It was always on this "Heavy Metal extacy" and I never felt any suspension, nor emotion. The actual music was relevant to the style of animation you are going for, so I will give you that.

The story isn't very well explained, nor detailed and the reading blocks can be quite hard to focus on with impressive movements and overwhelming gestures going on in the background. Im not entirely into this type of "Shadow the hedgehog" style of animated story telling but im sure those who are, dont really care what the story is about they just want raw violence and futuristic weapons/designs. Which this thoroughly delivers.

Despite being in the Madness category (Pure violence, no real need for decant story), I think that this could have been much more impressive if more emotion and character went into the story. The voice acting really helped and was an improvement to just raw reading blocks. This feature was crying for use from the first episode and it really made it easier to admire the amount of effort you have put in to your characters and backgrounds. Plan ahead with the length of the chapters (this is shown well in the second episode) to keep a structure. In other words, dont display "chapter 1" then show 2-3 shots of someone fighting lasting up to 10 seconds then shoot to "chapter 2". Doing this will make navigation easier for the viewer and also give a rhythmical feeling that helps understand the speed of how your telling the story.

I have given it 6/10 becuase as an animation (and not Xionic Madness) it is strong. It has really nice points with interesting designs, weapons and above all, unique ways to kill people. However, there is a lot of room for improvement concerning camera positioning, sounds/music development and character. The story is generic and titles/names closely follow. I think that most of your audience are within the realms of "Shadow the Hedgehog" style animation so anything black and red with be an automatic 10/10. I hope that 6/10 isn't too discouraging and should help you get a feel to what this truly is and not just "OMG THAT WAS SOO HARDCORE! 10/10". I think you have great potential and try not to think that what your doing is perfect. Try to follow some tips and I wish best of luck in future!
