Reviews for "Dynamic Systems 2"

Blast to the Past!

Great game, its a nice revival of the TIM games.
Love it!
Hardly any space for improvement, but like someone said things are a bit too random, i had a level where a hammer (pre-fixed by author) got stuck on the first try, but worked fine on the second. Now hammer length shouldn't be random...
Also, a hint system, and some kind of tooltip for parts would be interesting.
Also, you should allow us to return parts to the part bin. Just some minor things that would make this a 10.

I like sequels

And this has to be the best one I have seen and best of all it has medals.

First let me say how much of an improvement this was from the first. The start up menu had better 3d graphics and just fit perfectly with it. Everything you needed was on the main menu even the ability to change the language which I have never seen in a flash game. Thats was real cool of you to put that in and take extra time to make it easier to the non native speakers of the English language. And then I played the first level and knew this one was twice as better from the first.

The first few levels had me thinking about what was different from the first and I came to this. Not only did all the items now have more of a 3d touch. They had more detail and was better designed. Everything still ran at good speed. And adding stars to this you do not know how happy I was about that. From the first something was missing to me and that was what it was. I freaking love the star thing. That makes it more funner to me and more purpose to the game.

The level editor was ok but it wasn't really user friendly to me. I would o liked to see a few improvements on tht but over all it was ok.

I really enjoyed this game and taking the time implementing medals into it this game. For me being a medal whore it makes medal games real fun to me.

Gameplay - 10
Controls - 9
Level editor - 8
Overall - 9

Domo, thank you very much, I really tried to do my bast to improve the grpahic this time and I am glad you liked the multilanguage feature. :)

this isnt bad at all

but i was playing dynamic systems yesterday and i was kind of shocked because the first one has better physics and it was a much smoother fit when rotating peices. this one has new pieces in it but i would like to see them with the same physics as the first

The Incredible Machine in Flash (well, sorta)

I loved the Incredible Machine (TIM) series when I was younger (in fact, I still do). I haven't touched any of those games for a long time, but Dynamic Systems 2 (DS2) certainly brought back memories from those days.

Like in Dynamic Systems, the player must guide a steel ball into a basket through a series of Rube Goldberg contraptions. Compared to the original game, DS2 has many more objects, as well as some new features. One problem with the original game is that it ran pretty slowly on Macs, but the "fast forward" function solves this problem. DS2 also has an online database of user-created levels, so players who have solved the 30 levels can keep themselves entertained. The medals are a nice touch, too.

Unlike the TIM games, DS2 is not deterministic. In the TIM games, a contraption in a certain setup will always have the same behavior (due to the game's pseudorandom number generator), whereas objects in DS2 will occasionally behave differently. I do not know if this is a glitch, but it doesn't severly affect the gameplay.

However, the difficulty is pretty unbalanced. Some levels are extremely hard to figure out, while others have extemely solutions. Perhaps it is intentional, but some levels can be "broken" and easily solved, skipping a large part of the puzzle.

To be honest, I liked the original Dynamic Systems better. Nevertheless, DS2 is still a pretty solid game.

Pros: useful features
Cons: unbalanced difficulty

8/10

Thanks! I think this is the most useful review I have ever read on this game :)
I actually thought that adding the law of chaos, which is natural in phyisic, would give it a more realistic touch to it... but actually I have noticed that many people understood it has a glitch instead.

If running the same thing in real life would be normal to anybody to have sligtly different reaction every time you play the machine, actually would seem unrealistic if the same action made by many objects would always give the same exact reaction :)

needs some work

i like the game and the idea but a lot of the levels work and a lot of them fail half the time even when set up right i like ropes wont break when they are suppose to and the problems on your half because its suppose to break at the begging of the level.though this is only one example of many. also some are ridiculously hard to figure out and as i stated earlier when set up perfectly they fail. but ill give you one for the concept. also music drives you crazy after a while. also no retry or restart time just keeps going like i get the idea that it could get abused for time scores and such but come on.
