Lambtaco responds:

Now all I need is a recipe for OMGBBQsauce.

Fun but one annoyance

Although short, I find that I love the retro style of gameplay, the graphics, and the music. Good job.

My only annoyance is that I can't figure out how to select my weapon. I understand that it has to do with my arrow keys, but I just can't seem to get it. Call me stupid, but it's starting to annoy me since I wanted to play with the Portal Gun.

Lambtaco responds:

Pause first, lol. I guess if you never played Megaman it's not so obvious.

Amazing

AWESOME game dude! I really love how you designed the level and boss.
They're really fun :D And for a hardcore gamer like me, I beat the whole thing without dying after my first try xD

I need to learn how to make something like this.
Any good tutorials out there you might recommend?
Or a little help would be nice...
I've made RPGs before but that was on RPG maker.
I've always wanted to make a 2D platformer just like this one in my spare time.

Lambtaco responds:

I'm not a fan of Flash tutorials because it seems no one who's good with AS makes game tutorials. A fair warning, making a Flash game is much harder than RPG maker. Nothing is really set up for you in the same way. Good luck.

MORE!!!

Make a full length version! With 8 robots and an Tom as Wily!

It'd be awesome!

Good game, loved it.

Lambtaco responds:

I think Wadolf would have to be Wily. Tom might be like Dr. Light.

Looks better than Mega Man Universe...

But how hard is that, really? I mean, the graphics in that thing look like horse shit.

Seriously, though. I loved this. Very well put together Mega Man game. My only three gripes:

- Mega Man felt like he was falling a *little* bit too fast at times. The physics were off, slightly. Still competent, though. Never felt like the game was cheating.

- Full keyboard support would have been nice. Typically when I play stuff like this on the keys, I like the arrows for movement, but something a bit lower than A and S for action buttons, usually Z and X. And I usually assign the pause button to my Return key. Still, a minor gripe; it's not like you had to control with the Function keys or something.

- I know you said you only had about three weeks to work on it, but MORE LEVELS, man. You nailed the feel of the original MM games, mostly. It would have been nice to see something a bit bigger come from the engine you built.

Other than that, great job. A fun way to waste half an hour or so.

Lambtaco responds:

lol, a little harsh on MMU?
- Close enough that a lot of people couldn't tell the difference and that's good enough for me. I was playing MM2 when I was calibrating the physics. Personally I think the bullet speed is off more than the falling speed.
- Full keyboard support is something I've been putting off learning since forever. It's probably not even hard. I used to like ZX until I used a computer in Germany, they use a QWERTZ, and the only difference is that the Z and Y are reversed. Still, don't want to drive the Germans nuts.
- Maybe I'll build a full game one day. But right now I've got two Flash games I really need to finish before I start any more big projects. Three weeks is all I have to spare.
