Reviews for "The Deeplight Expedition"

sadly, a ripoff

i dont know if there is a relationship between this game's maker and the one i will tell u in a sec but this game is really similar to a game called knytt. not everyone knows this game but its amazing. similarities between this and knytt are: walking noises, music, tilesets, background, character, even the enemies. if you would like to see it for yourself please search "knytt stories" on google. thank you for not finding this offensive. i have no bad intentions and im not trying to promote anything.

Niccce.

This is a great game. Good controls (in spite of what everyone else says), good gamplay, I liked how it's free roam, that was cool, etc. Tons of good.

BUT...

Why do some of the runic doors have big pictures of the specific rune needed and some have that weird shape like an hourglass sideways that isn't even a rune in the game? It wouldn't really matter, but in the fiery traverse, I got close enough to the door to see the shape, then died, and thought, "Oh, well I don't have that rune anyway, better go looking for it," and spent about an hour wandering aimlessly in the labyrinth before going back and realizing I already had the rune to open it. I was about to cry! XD

Still, great game, even if I spent ten minutes short of three hours on it cause I wasted so much time. q:

Nice

It's nice. The controls are responsive and I love the way you jump off walls and can grab on to ledges (which saved my ass more than a few times). While I enjoyed the extremely intuitive and responsive controls and the nice Metroid style map, it got a bit boring to me. I kind of expected some sort of stages or something. With the two locked doors off to the left I thought, maybe I have to beat the easy mode on the right and I'll unlock these.

It's quite a large game for a flash game. I could easily play this for an hour or so. But while it is kind of fun, it did get a little too boring for me to keep interested. Sure I ran into more challenging obstacles, but the lack of a purpose inhibits my caring. Maybe the tablets would unlock more purpose but I didn't feel like going through them all. I don't really know what it is about it that gets to me, it just does. I feel like I'm mindlessly working my way across these obstacles and while it took me a long time to stop playing, I realized it never really jumped out and grabbed me as entertaining.

Well, my increasing boredom was all that lowered the rating to a 7. For technical reasons, this is a perfect game. I rarely ever experience a flash game especially with such outstanding controls. I know it's the third time I've brought it up, but they really are spectacular. Anyway, good job. Maybe I'll check out more of your work when I have the time. Keep up the good programming.

Those spikes!

This was a good game to play because it had a lot of original material and stuff to it. My favorite feature was probably how you could jump from side to side. I managed to figure that out even before the instructions told me to. The graphics are good, if a little simplistic and the gameplay is mostly satisfying. You certainly have little idea as to what is going to happen next and you have provided a large space to move around. I guess it would have been more enjoyable if there were more things to collect, like coins or something.

Alright

I liked it, had the little mario but without mushrooms and louigi
