Reviews for "Halo:Operation Hope Demo"

A five for now...

Well, it is a tech demo and it shows some promise. Would like to see more. However, there are some issues to address.

Walking outside of map. A complete no-no.

I somehow stumbled upon this reload sound glitch, where for any step I took, it had the reload sound repeatedly play (similar to holding the R button). I can't replicate the glitch, other than the fact I know I held R down, I was near the turret. Reloading the demo seems to have solved it, and I would figure that you'd solve it normally anyway. Just letting you know.

Player can get stuck on ship and possibly the turret. (possibly, because that hasn't happened to me yet, but I was stuck on the ship for sure). This may happen on other solid objects as well.

Icon on top right screen doesn't change when you switch weapons. (Dunno what you have planned with it; maybe it's just there to show what weapons you have on hand, in which case, you'd have to put a second gun icon underneath that one as well.)

Otherwise, the graphics are good enough, the controls work fine (can't know about reload yet, since you haven't implemented the ammo functions yet ).

Not bad.

Just a few things, though.
1. Player can be attacked from objects off-screen. Really annoying and not quite fair.
2. Walked into the turret-looking thing and got stuck in it. Need to work on that.

not bad... for a demo

needs works obviously but with a few touch ups and a few switches here and there. this would be great, even better if you take this multi-player. dont get me wrong this was cool and all but like its plainly printed, its only a demo. so not bad i guess.

Demos...

Demos anger me because they are hard to review on. You can't be overly critical or too nice, and need to find a balance for reviewing...
Anyways, it looks like a nice game but there are some major issues.
First of all, you don't have an ammo function. So make there be clip sizes and certain amounts of clips, and all that good jazz (I recommend doing it the way halo classic did, if you reload before the clip is used up, you lose the ammo that's left.)
You also need to add in a larger music variety, which you will obviously do. With the ammo, you should put the info under the gun, and the grenade ammo there too.
You definitely need more guns, which I assume you will do. But some technical issues, you don't have a start menu, you don't have a pause menu and you don't need to make the enemies a LOT harder to kill. Suicide should also be an option.
In the demo, the grunt was just there to look pretty, which confused me.
Despite this being a top down view game, it would be cool for you to add in crouching, but make it so it gives you more cover, or that there are secret corridors and short cuts that are semi-transparent so that way you can tell you need to crouch.

not quite

i like the sounds and the movement ... but the enemies are to dorment and they just dissapear when they die ... no real animation to it ... also i managed to glitch over the spaceship at spawn and run into endless greyness.

neads alot of work
