Reviews for "Use Your iMagination!"

Weird, innit?

It's an anti-technology animation urging people to use their imagination. How did the artist accomplish this? By making a mish-mash of Apple ads and Powerthirst and using technology to make/distribute it.

Yeah...

Very Average

I can't say I understand a front page, aside from the clever idea. That's honestly the only redeeming quality here. I'll admit though, it is extremely clever. Internet high-five!

From there, though, it really goes down hill. The art just wasn't very good. Simple figures with no real anatomy or weight, no stylization or consideration of volume. But I love stuff like Lazymuffin does, so that isn't all necessary if the basic 2D figure is done well. Here, it just wasn't. It was really dull in style.

Your delivery of... jokes? For all intents and purposes, we'll call them jokes. Yes. Your delivery was incredibly slow and lackluster, with absolutely no punchline-style delivery, no shock, nothing unexpected. And when the jokes were over, they came to a slow stop with lots of empty space after them. It was just really, really slow.

Voice acting was dull, too! No real character put into the voices, just you saying your lines. The animation was half-hearted. No real effort to do explore the medium of animation, you just scraped by with the absolute minimum needed to show what was going on. There could have been a lot of fast-paced, funny ways to get this done, ESPECIALLY when we're talking about the imagination! The most wild, random, exotic colors and shapes and insane animals and shit... I don't know, that would be up to your imagination.

I'm just saying, it wasn't very imaginative. It was a bunch of people, drawn as plain people, speaking with normal voices about fairly standard things. Sort of counterintuitive, isn't it?

4/10 because, even though it was all really poorly crafted and delivered, with absolutely no sense of showmanship or pride in your work, the original idea was clever and, to be honest, you could have done a lot worse with the art and animation and whatnot. I've seen some of the real crap of NG. If it weren't for all the real crap on the site, though, and if I were judging this as its own piece out of context, it would definitely be 1 or 2 stars.

Let me start by saying that I appreciate all the feedback I recieve from this submission. It's very cool for a silly little cartoon I whipped up in a couple of months to recieve such overwhelming reception.

That being said, the fact that you compared a noob like me to someone like LazyMuffin, who's clearly been animating longer than I have, is just plain rude. That's like saying that you hate apple pie because it's nothing like cherry.

I'm not going to say anything about the jokes/animation/voice acting since that's subjective, but I will say this: it's supposed to be a parody of a television commercial. If it wasn't formated as such, maybe I'd go a little more crazy with it, but it wasn't and I was trying to be slighty more down to earth (the key word is "SLIGHTLY") without losing sight of the idea that was being "promoted", if you will.

But hey, you liked the basic idea of the movie, so whatev.
