Reviews for "Kanji SMASH"

For me it lacks the way to read those kanji in japanese. That would be even more awesome!

Nice

Cool game, i learn japanese so it's kind of helpful, cheat button lol

Very nice study tool

Even if you're using the hints, you really have to look hard to find the right radicals. That amount of work is great for Kanji recognition. It's a little surprising how much I remember from my two Kanji classes ;) All in all a useful little project. Biggest annoyance is that the back and forth of the character sets as you click buttons seems kind of neat at first, but it gets a little tiring when searching through the sets. And I like the cheat button too lol

Ragnadox responds:

I'm glad you like it. I think the difficulty makes it more meaningful when you actually find one. You might see a Kanji character in real life (maybe on a street sign or a TV commercial) and remember what it means because you created it in this game.

For the groups: You can remove a group by clicking it again once it's selected. Doing that lets you choose which side to place the next group. That way you can keep one group up while you look for another.

Great Game!

I love this game! Fun, and makes you think. I didn't know at first that you can also smash one Kanji at a time - I would have gotten points more quickly. I'm already learning Japanese characters.

Nice Game

Reminds me of Doodle God, but seems a bit more difficult. The different tiles should porbably have captions of what they are, rather than having to scroll over all of them util you find what you're looking for. Just a suggestion, but it would make gameplay a lot smoother.

Ragnadox responds:

Thanks for the suggestion. This is similar to Doodle God, but creating the Kanji is more about symbol placement than logical combinations. The origins of many of the Kanji you can create in this game have been lost as the language changes over time, so the words end up being less important than the symbols and how they fit together.
