Very nice.
This is an excellent game; its completely replayable, the story is compelling, and it is, perhaps most importantly, POSSIBLE TO FINISH.
There is a reasonable balance between weapons; ranged weapons are safer, and given ammo sources, can be used forever, but have the unfortunate tendency to miss (logical, given that you're Just A Dad), whereas melee weapons are dubious in their safety (take that, L4D2), but always work, and are in ridiculous abundance.
There are some obvious influences from L4D, like rescuing survivors from rooms, but the addition of convicts to fight, and the little quests you can do, is a nice touch.
My only real concern with the game is that melee weapons just suck TOO much. On my first playthrough of the game, I mostly used melee weapons, and got slaughtered for it. On the second playthrough, I stuck to guns (4 different guns, all with high ammo caps), and did much better. Of course, this may be for realism's sake, but then again, this IS a video game.
Another mild concern is that it is actually possible to find your daughter in literally the first area you look in, out of luck, and conversely, to never find her, because she's in the last area you look. I had the bad luck of finding her with one hour to go, meaning I lost the game, but that was just...bad luck, yeah.
There were also a couple of times when I saw survivors with assault rifles in their rooms wielding wooden boards, however, which didn't make sense (except from the perspective that the player would want the gun) so perhaps letting the other survivors get a weapon if its in the room when you leave is something you could do in an update, if you do one.
Oh, yeah, also, travel times don't really make sense; going one square away is an hour, two squares is two hours, but three squares is still two hours? I understand balance issues, but maybe making it such that 1-2 squares is an hour, and 3-4 (unlikely as 4 squares would be) is 2 hours would make more sense.
Finally, a pause (or a restart) button would be nice.
Despite my quibbles, I still found the game highly engaging (lost 2 hours playing through it 4-5 times), and so I favorited it.
5/5, 10/10
