Reviews for "Reting Rimpoche DatingSim"

I WON

i won and it stunk at the end BOO

Definitely one of the better sim games up here

This was very well done, especially for a free, online sim. It has a very interesting setting, and is unique and original, which is a huge plus. The visuals are wonderful (the blend of art and photos worked quite well), and the music and sound, while not amazing, helps add to the atmosphere. I often felt like I was actually in Tibet. The debates could get tedious, but I wasn't too bothered by that since you have some control over how quickly you win. The love interest was intelligent, but shallow, which made conversations with her difficult for me. She was not cliche, but she would have benefited from some character development. I was surprised at how engrossing and addictive this game was!

The main thing that bugged me was the ending. It was too abrupt and boring, and it leaves a bad aftertaste. After all your hard work, after spending hours trying to complete the game, it makes you think, "That's it???" More than one heroine or ending would have given the game replay value and made it more fun, and might even have brought my rating up to a 10.

Anyway, the effort you put into this shows, and I think this game was brilliant. Great work.

Thank you very much for your comments! I'm very pleased that you enjoyed the "Tibetan atmosphere" I tried to infuse into this game. I did lots of research to create a somewhat "realist" background!

Actually, that may surprise you, but the game was built from the start around that ending. I started studying the political history of Tibet a couple years ago, and I was fascinated by the violent struggle between progress and centuries-old conservatism. In the 30's, conservatism prevailed and, two decades later, the chinese invasion put a term to the "natural' evolution of the Tibetan society. That left me with a feeling of incompletion: I wanted the game to somehow convey those hopes and frustration, and I couldn't find a way to do it with a happy ending...

About Iori, I had trouble to decide what her true personnality was. She somehow evolved during the development of the game, to become more sentimental and less ironic. I'm glad that you didn't find her too "cliché"!

Anyway, I'm happy that you liked that game. Thanks again for your comments!

Awesome!

I think it had great storyline and good graphites.Although I was little bit depressed about the ending. Im expeting other games of your!
Btw ur drawings kinda reminds me of simgirls author :o

RanEntertainments responds:

Thank you very much! I put all my heart into the storyline, which is conveniently depressing on purpose :) (and is kind of metaphorical for the history of Tibet)
For the graphics, thank Masakazu Katsura! But I did spend an immense amount of time to vectorize them properly into Flash.
Oh, and if you want to help, feel free to recommand this game for a collection! ^^

eh not horrible

it could be a good game with more information on what and how some stats are used for and which thing brings them up

RanEntertainments responds:

You're perfectly right. I was rather fed up with the excessively long game development and thus canceled the coding of in-game help, thinking that people would figure out by themselves how things worked: but now I realize that some kind of tutorial is definitely lacking. I will include it in 1.1...
