Reviews for "Days of The Dead"

Only missing bells and whistles

It has good mechanics, bearable graphics, and pretty much everything you would expect from a game like this, so kudos on that. The thing that keeps this game from being really good are a few balance issues. For instance, you don't level up after the first wave, so you go to the screen with no points to spend and little gold. Also Meteor and Venom are never worth getting, you could have four ranks in the arrow spell before you can afford meteor. It should be made cheaper. Venom would just need a revamp. Other than that, tiny things like a tutorial level, an intro movie, maybe some minor menu tweaks, would all add to making the game feel more polished and add replay value.

Overall, its a good start. Keep up the good work.

Almost good

Once I got the fire bow, a crit with it is almost as powerful as half a lvl1 meteor strike wiping out half the screen. This can be balanced by either making the splash smaller or increasing the number of enemies. Perhaps throw in a wave with a high HP monster accompanied by a bunch of low HP guys where the correct strategy is to crit the high HP monster to wipe out the lesser monsters.

The game is too short... it ended before i actually got to play with everything.

Some boss monsters would be interesting.

The good points:
- Aiming system is decent. There is a moderate learning curve that gets satisfying once learnt.
- Upgrade system is more or less balanced. You do get screwed if you make some wrong choices at the beginning though.
- Head shots are satisfying

The bad:
- I didn't know I can move until I got killed by a shielded knight at the bottom of the screen with no way to hit it.
- On the same note, I was puzzled for a while why my spells cannot target the upper and lower lanes.
- Need more monster varieties/ behaviors/ bosses

Anyway, this game has potential. Good job!

May need a bit more tweeking.

Some things that should be added (I think):
-Tutorial/Instruction
Halfway into the game only did I realize (by reading comments from seppo276), that you could actually MOVE with ARROW KEYS, which made me thing that the game had a dead-zone, where you couldn't hit the enemy at all.
-'More archers' upgrade
The intro where there were a row of archers were misleading, since I thought you could have that many for the fun of it (of course if I'm wrong, someone tell me)
-Choice to continue after the 13th day
Kind of disappointing that you get all that stuff, and you can't go any further (if I somehow missed this, please let me know)
-"It's possible to stack items?"
Yes. Discovered late, but was fun to have 4x 50% critical

Final Note:
This game has potential, it just needs a bit more tweaking.

Suggestion for upgrade on the next version:
-Guns (Sorry if I'm a gun nut), but to balance things out, it will have less damage compared to bow and arrows.
-Character customization
-Extra days
-Boss fight(?)
-2 player coop on 1 computer (P1 uses the mouse, while P2 uses keyboard and space bar)
-Story line/plot (simple yet nice)
-Survival Mode (based on some user comments)

bad

When I aim somewhere and fire, the projectile should actually be NEAR WHERE I AM FIRING. Get a less shitty aim mechanic.

it had everything but still not that good

your game had eerything to be good in its current state but it wasnt.
you lacked sevral stuff which could've given your game a 10.
for example. your game had only 13 waves and feature which would allow a player to re do the 13 days with all his exp. you could' ve added some modes to add to the replay value overall. what i mean when i say that your game had everything is the fact that the mechanics, the dinamics, the weapones, the style were almost impecable. you just needed to add those things that a casual gamer likes.
nice work, but you can do much much better so keep it up
