Reviews for "Project Flame [demo2]"

coming from a gamer

saying you might choose a beta tester from all of us alot of people are gonna say something in hopes of being chosen, lol, but getting too the review

The mechanics are very solid, i enjoy the mix of combat and platformer, with a dash of puzzle solving, it's a good combination too make a good classic, which from what i know, this is so far. It's nice too have two med packs at the start, gives the player a feel of being eased in the action, of course the first fight is a little simple, that's a good thing.

Perhaps a defficulty setting would be nice, easy would be, normal amount of enemies, but they have less health and damage, normal is what you have it now... maybe a lil bit harder, and hard would be like, 1.5x or 2x the amount of enemies and you have less health, but it's a suggestion, and maybe little secrets here and there, not for in-game sake, but you know, achievement like things, such as 'you examined all the corpses, necropheliac' or, lol, something like that. honestly i can see myself playing this game through too the end a couple of times, the story line (altho just feintly cliched, earthquake, everyone is dead, and alien encounter, then again it's hard not too have it cliched these days) it's definitely a grabber, which makes me want too know more, ill be waiting, peace!

(note: i dun really care if i'm chosen or not)

Thats was great

Can't wait till the full version comes out :D

Good game

I can wait till the real one is out

cool

the squid just wow

Wow. A little derivative, but excelent quality!

First, the not-so-good:
Players can immediately see where you're drawing your inspiration from, but it comes off as more of a ripoff than inspiration in certain respects. Half-Life was clearly a pivotal environment reference because so many of the rooms are filled with green slime and/or hanging electrical cables. It's become a bit of a cliche that I think should be used very conservatively. The robot, Vux, looks almost exactly like one of those human containers from Half-Life 2, but it looks cool and doesn't jump out as a ripoff. I groaned out loud when the character noted there was a "fire temple" under the lab. I STRONGLY recommend finding a new way to describe the scene to avoid blatantly referencing the most self-replicating franchise of all time (besides Mario). The character design for the lead is fresh (as far as I know), but the female character, Aya, needs to be redesigned. There is nothing original about her appearance, which is just a generic sci-fi manga female.

I've only brought these things up because I know you guys are above following redundant trends, based on the amazing, purely original content that the rest of the demo embodies:

The art is incredible. The level of detail in the environment is worthy of notation by talent scouts in the 2D-gaming industry. The ominous mood is well established, complimented in no small part by good sound and lighting direction. The backgrounds are beautiful. The interface is clever, with the flame-thrower at the left-hand side of the screen with a meter that fills as fuel is exhausted. The dialog windows are a nice touch--not groundbreaking, but adding to the game's personality. There isn't much to say about the story yet, as the demo starts in media res. I implore you all to avoid drawing too heavily on Doom, Half-Life, FF, or Zelda as you fill in the details.

And that's all I have to say about it.
