Reviews for "2010 History of Computer"

The more you know... ;)

That's an incredible tribute! Now I wonder if all these users knew of that special need for computers come from....

DevintheDinosaur responds:

Wow!! Thanks for the 10!! I appreciate the review :D Glad you enjoyed it!

Alright, I liked it!

Simple, informative, and to the point. I learned a few things from this as I'm sure others did. Great job man!

DevintheDinosaur responds:

Thanks :)

It wasnt that bad

It had some good information. And if they had tried to cover all the other types of computers and advancements in the field, then it theyd probably still be working on it

DevintheDinosaur responds:

Thanks, I did only have a certain amount of time to do this,
so if I had longer it would have gone a lot more in depth and would have had more animations and explanations. Who knows maybe I'll redo it for fun *shrugs*

Thanks for the review though =D

About my computers...

mputer science or computing science (sometimes abbreviated CS) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems.
It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information. According to Peter J. Denning, the fundamental question underlying computer science is, "What can be (efficiently) automated?" Computer science has many sub-fields; some, such as computer graphics, emphasize the computation of specific results, while others, such as computational complexity theory, study the properties of computational problems. Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describe computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems, and human-computer interaction focuses on the challenges in making computers and computations useful, usable, and universally accessible to people.

The general public sometimes confuses computer science with careers that deal with computers (such as the noun Information Technology), or think that it relates to their own experience of computers, which typically involves activities such as gaming, web-browsing, and word-processing. However, the focus of computer science is more on understanding the properties of the programs used to implement software such as games and web-browsers, and using that understanding to create new programs or improve existing ones.

Areas of computer science

As a discipline, computer science spans a range of topics from theoretical studies of algorithms and the limits of computation to the practical issues of implementing computing systems in hardware and software.[19][20] The Computer Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB) - which is made up of representatives of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society (IEEE), and the Association for Information Systems (AIS) - identifies four areas that it considers crucial to the discipline of computer science: theory of computation, algorithms and data structures, programming methodology and languages, and computer elements and architecture. In addition to these four areas, CSAB also identifies fields such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, computer networking and communication, database systems, parallel computation, distributed computation, computer-human interaction, computer graphics, operating systems, and numerical and symbolic computation as being important areas of computer science.

Well, yeah, you said I could review what I want.

DevintheDinosaur responds:

tl;dr

Thanks for the 7 though :D

Did it on flash just cause?

Apart from the opening animation it seems like you didn't really need flash for any of this. Hitting this up on powerpoint prolly could've saved you time which could have been spent making the individual slides a bit more interesting, which is my main beef with this. I imgaine sitting in a classroom listening to you give your presentation while looking at a screen with a bunch of words on it... boring...

Putting some pictures in with the information would certainly make it more interesting and give people a good visualization of what you're talking about instead of waiting till the very end to get a quick glimpse at everything. Some minor, VERY minor sound effects wouldn't hurt, might keep those of us with ADD from staring off into to space. Animation at the beggining seemed hurried, but served it's purpose.

Now what I like was that we got to click our own way through it. YAY!!!!!! Information was straight forward and to the point. Easy to digest for just a quick 7 min or so presentation. Also the quick review round-up of the different computer types that were discussed at the end was appreciated.

This gets the job done, but it's not anything I'd really wanna sit through in class.

DevintheDinosaur responds:

I actually didn't up presenting it. But yeah, thanks for the constructive criticism, I actually agree with you totally. I'm glad you liked aspects of it, and the other aspects you explained WHY you didn't like it, that's what I call a helpful review :)
