Backstab bug?

Well, for the first few rounds the backstab function worked, after awhile it seemed to fail, even with stationary enemies. Is there something wrong with me or what?

One of the best cover systems ever.

If anything I HAVE to compliment you on the cover system. It is so easy to do and the way it is used in 2d is excellent. Bravo on the cover.

Good game

Attention players! 25/25 master guide video and tips for survival mode will be up on my profile when I get around to making it.

You've made leaps and bounds over the Beta by adding some great graphics, new gameplay mechanics, and more interesting layouts, but I still have the same problem I used to with this game:

The controls suck.

No, I'm not whining because I suck at the game; I've beaten the game on 25/25 master, unlocked the revolver, and got a score of almost 900 in survival.

The major problem is that the F key is impossible to hit while walking right, which means I can't knock on walls and I can't knife while moving in that direction (unless I take my thumb off the jump button and put it in an awkward position, which is still 'bad' controls).

A second problem is that it's easy to mix up the E and R keys while in the heat of the moment, which means the difference between entering a door and avoiding detection and standing at the exit, reloading, as I get caught trying to do another masters run (or trying to reload and accidentally switching weapons, a killer in survival mode). The major problem is that you've fit too many actions on too few buttons; might I suggest the alt key as a potential subsitute when you don't need to be jumping?

The game itself presents the best of both worlds: a challenging puzzle game (main storyline) plus a repeatable action game (survival). This allows players to engage in a challenging puzzle-solving endeavor that is one-time only while offering some repeatable gameplay that players can test themselves over and over again with. In time, however, I've noticed a problem with both modes.

The main game is fairly short and while the puzzles are challenging at first glance they are easily done once solved. Other than struggles with the controls there should be no problem for someone to do repeated perfect stealth runs once they've figured out the trick. This leaves the players who enjoyed the stealth aspect high and dry with nothing to do. I suggest offering players who enjoyed the stealth aspect one or all of the following:

-a 'hard' mode, which allows them to run through the game but with enemies at partially random spawn points and/or partially random patrols and/or with partially random numbers of enemies
-a 'bonus' mode with maps specifically designed to be as hard as possible; that one map with six guards is a good example of a map that took some amount of thinking
-a 'timer' on the side that allows players to compete in speed runs (hopefully with an improvement on controls so that players aren't fighting with them all the time).
-add a stealth survival mode that challenges players to get knife-only kills

The survival mode, on the other hand, is fairly easy to exploit once you know the trick. The problem with it is that an extremely aggressive play-style can leave you fighting only one enemy at a time; if you save your shotgun and sniper ammo for shotgun-users and snipers, and use your backup weapon for killing enemies with pistols, smgs, and assault rifles, you can pretty much survive indefinitely if you've got a good handle on teleporting in and out of combat.

I've racked up scores of 450 on one map (top right) just teleporting in and out (focusing on killing one enemy at a time), using my backup weapon for the regular guys and stealing full magazines of shotgun and sniper ammo from the shotgun and snipers as I surprise attack them. The only thing that stops me from getting higher scores is lag and boredom (and the occasional bad luck). My suggestions:

-Scale up the difficulty over time: make the early enemies weak so that you don't scare off newbies, but slowly increase their health damage, and spawn rate over time.
-Remove blood/guns over time (or quicker); it contributed to too much lag.
-Make assault rifles more powerful (they seemed to be weaker than SMGs in every way due to the lower RoF).

Thanks for the fun game, though, and looking forward to seeing some more.

I love a detailed review, thank you :)

good game

i had a hard time time the controls.
mostly grenades. its to far out from the main 4 keys.
WASD. if you do make a second one, try change it to Q.
its either the key layout or its maybe its 4 in the morning right now

Nice Game...

Well, it's a pretty good game. I like the graphics and the gameplay is pretty nice! The only thing that annoyed me was that the controls were extremely difficult, and the knife system is plain defective. A like that you used the MGS system with all the question and exclamation marks, but no alert timer or music? Oh well.... I liked the game, and it's pretty cool, but it can get really frustrating because of the crappy stealth kills. Nevertheless, good job anyway!
