Reviews for "Zombies in the Shadow"

boy dem zombies are hard ta slug...

Excellent challenge by far even on easy mode (cause I am that lazy XD)

Grafix: 9/10 (including them goggles) kinda a minus 1 for the space that the player is deal with more likely A: barricade items look a tad to big to be piles of junk (example the barrels)

Story: 7/10: the story is kinda... jump in to action then having proper introductions and some reason why these zombies gain power in darkness let alone how the hell they came to be. Also why not have the guy go look for survivers -whistles a tune- to add on the intro near end kinda freaked me out x.x

Weapons: 9/10: most modern weapons I guess would fit the picture but... some weapons like the gernade launcher or any AOE guns I feel don't really fit the battlefield for two reasons: the too much risk of blowing up yer barricade and not much visability to even see a good swarm to pick off with one shot. The upgrades were ok but... more like a chore for the player when he/she has to jump barricade and go pick up then go back inside while zombies claw off enough of the barricade to enter

Character/enemys: 8/10: just one guy on a horde doesn't make him think to look for armour bits and items or to bring it up again survivors. The character has no goal of trying to find a secure area to live for about so-so years. The enemy's were good in some cases but the ones that shoot stuff tend to be the most annoying ones. The bosses (least the two I saw) were the same freakin being just mutated.

Sound: 9/10 again freaky with the heartbeats but it would be nice to have some sound options of what can be heard instead of what

Visability: 5/10 shot on that one by how the light is so close to reveal only around barricades over extra terrain. I can see the reason why because of the challenge but on the later waves its a pain in the neck from like my example: Uzi no ammo DAMN! Must use shotgun! Buuuuut it has slow reload even on max level -guy crys in corner- (brings up a point on shotgun reload and bullet spitters but I don't hold it against ya)

Useless buttons: The melee command... why nock a door ova when ya can shoot it down wit a nade launcha or da UZI! and the inventory was bland... along with using items like a gernade or claymore even meat (I don't know what the hell to do with that cook it?) never really found A: time to set up and B: big risk when trying to take a group out while killing a barricade.

overall... eh 9/10 and 5/5: a good game for zombie hunters who want a twist on the whole "UBERZOMBIEMADNESSPLOX"
great job on it and I hope to see a part II even with what little completetion I had
also could this be a online game? Its kinda like Dead Frontier and that was fun. (minus the bad map location system they had when I played it)

Thanks for the long comment and specific suggestions.
Few notes: boss 1 and 2 are similar, but boss 3,4,5 are really different, hugly and big!
The bloody steak is useful: throw it to the zombies and the ones nearby will attack it to eat it, so you'll distract there in order to shoot them easily or to launch a grenade in the middle of the eating deads!
The idea to rescue survivors and add some more gameplay if fine. We'll think about it.

LOVE THIS GAME

has everything a zombie game needs except one thing, buddy's. some guys or gals you meet along the way could join up with you. ya know?

Xplored responds:

We'll think about it for the sequel. THanks for the 10.

epic

this game is epic, im gonna do a full review, so here it goes.

weaponry- not too much, but its not a big deal, more could've been added (i think, im not sure if there's a KB/MB limit here) and once upgraded fully, almost godly- 9/10

graphics-i don't need to say anything, these graphics are pwnage, graphics don't make the game, but these ones sure did a lot for the game- 10/10

sound (in general)- great sounds and music, it was very high quality- 10/10

character movement/design-great character graphics and the weapon in the characters hand looked good as well, the movement was ok, when you stop, the character keeps carrying out the walking movement for about a second.

controls- easy to use controls and i am also glad you did not add an auto reload feature, i would suggest adding the option to get rid of the yellow letters saying "reload" above the character when you have to reload so it can be more thrilling-10/10

game play and AI- challenging game play and intelligent AI that doesnt just try to take off your head and makes choices like going for the torch instead of you first-10/10

my only problem is a bit of character movement, i will give you a 10/10 anyways because if you make a new game or you update this one, i am confident that it will be gone because your work shows you don't half-ass your game to beat some deadline and you care about the people who play it and where it will end up rather than some noobish piece of crap that some idiot threw up on the internet, keep up the work wor and anyone who thinks this game is bad can suck it.

Xplored responds:

I had a minute of real pleasure and fun reading your comment. Especially at the end.
Thanks!

Great

All i have to say is the graphics were great the weapons were awesome. (if sequel add more though). the only thing i have to add would be add choosable upgrades like it's power or clip size instead of only reload speed then this game would be great. thx for the effort :3

Xplored responds:

Thanks to you for playing and giving a 10!
Upgrades: in this first title the upgrade system has been kept very simple not to distract from the thrilling and dynamic gameplay. For the curious players: each weapon upgrade increases damage, rate of fire, magazine capacity and reloading time (in a different measure weapon by weapon).
