Reviews for "Zombies in the Shadow"

Very well polished game.

This game keeps your senses heightened, a great little survival simulator. The zombies are well balanced, as are the weapons you find along the way. Light and shadow is a mechanism that is not often toyed with in the games field, particularly in a flash runtime environment, the reason being it's very hard to get right; no problems here though, the lighting and it's effect are flawless.

The muzzleflash is an excellent addition to the atmosphere, really gives you that feeling that there are stalkers coming at you in the dark, you catch a glimpse of movement in a direction, only to turn and fire, then realise you're completely surrounded.

Easy to get into the game right away as the controls are simple and the tips are a great guide for new players.

Grunge-toned artwork for the cut-scenes fits perfectly with the theme, reminiscent of the old grindhouse movies that were so (un)popular back in the day. Some vintage sounds from such horror films could really enhance the immersion.

The 'Boss' zombies dont front much of a challenge, or come across as scary in any way; which when you think about it, should be the case, otherwise they are just acting as a buffed up regular zombie with a different attack. I feel they're missing out on the fear factor. Why not have the ambient music change to something more fast paced when you get to the boss stage, or have a heartbeat getting faster as you lose health? Very easy to implement, this might add more tension to the levels.

The 'bonus' levels (corridors) add a moment of rest for players, which is good between levels, bringing the pace down to an easy lull before the next level, although the corridor levels themselves dont seem very intuitive to play through. These levels could serve as an opportunity to give the player the chance to do some exploration or even show off some more background artwork in other post-apocalypse-esq locations, other than just a simple corridor with the same doors and same gameplay each time.

As a zombie shooter this is by far one of the best I've played, on par with Last Stand 2. It's fun to play, runs smoothly on the appropriate settings, and works like a charm. Great work... dont forget to reload.

Thank you for all the time and word you dedicatyed to our game. Appreciated.

Game is hot!

I love the Grunge Art work. the Zombie AI is great. I love the Zombie Witch stays out of the light when you drop flares. All round great game. Wish it was on XBLIVE and it was multi-player. Hawtness. Great Job.

Xplored responds:

XBLA is our ultimate goal. It will take some time :-D

More of the same.

Not much else to say. Only thing fresh here, is the nifty art.

Classic

what else can I say? a classic zombie survival game! it reminds me of the last stand series, but with moving around and blasting the crap out of those zombies..A nice amount of weapons really helped to. Personally I loved how the zombies are weaker in the light effect, though I don't think that's how it actually works its still a nice effect :D

The bosses were kinda easy in my opinion even though I played it in hard mode they died kinda fast.

Last but definitely not least..Thanks for a pause feature! not a whole lot of games like this have them.

Xplored responds:

Pause button is in all our games. I do not undestand either why many developers foget it :-D
Thanks for the 9.

seen it all before

it's just the same thing over, and over, and over and OVER until you FINALLY get an original flash, then it gets used again, then again, then again, until it's been raped of all originality. . .
