Very well polished game.
This game keeps your senses heightened, a great little survival simulator. The zombies are well balanced, as are the weapons you find along the way. Light and shadow is a mechanism that is not often toyed with in the games field, particularly in a flash runtime environment, the reason being it's very hard to get right; no problems here though, the lighting and it's effect are flawless.
The muzzleflash is an excellent addition to the atmosphere, really gives you that feeling that there are stalkers coming at you in the dark, you catch a glimpse of movement in a direction, only to turn and fire, then realise you're completely surrounded.
Easy to get into the game right away as the controls are simple and the tips are a great guide for new players.
Grunge-toned artwork for the cut-scenes fits perfectly with the theme, reminiscent of the old grindhouse movies that were so (un)popular back in the day. Some vintage sounds from such horror films could really enhance the immersion.
The 'Boss' zombies dont front much of a challenge, or come across as scary in any way; which when you think about it, should be the case, otherwise they are just acting as a buffed up regular zombie with a different attack. I feel they're missing out on the fear factor. Why not have the ambient music change to something more fast paced when you get to the boss stage, or have a heartbeat getting faster as you lose health? Very easy to implement, this might add more tension to the levels.
The 'bonus' levels (corridors) add a moment of rest for players, which is good between levels, bringing the pace down to an easy lull before the next level, although the corridor levels themselves dont seem very intuitive to play through. These levels could serve as an opportunity to give the player the chance to do some exploration or even show off some more background artwork in other post-apocalypse-esq locations, other than just a simple corridor with the same doors and same gameplay each time.
As a zombie shooter this is by far one of the best I've played, on par with Last Stand 2. It's fun to play, runs smoothly on the appropriate settings, and works like a charm. Great work... dont forget to reload.
