I think it was a matter of the eye spacing. I tried it several ways and having the eyes far apart garnered much better results.
I like it.
The animation and mannerisms of the characters remind me a bit of the Blockhead flashes and the humor a bit like the Professor Layton flashes. The humor is a bit dry, but for this flash I worked out rather well.
