A few suggestionss

People seem to have already said what I would have, so I am just writing what I think may improve the game.

Different types of planes: Now, it may be a part of the strategy, but I was continually frustrated when enemy planes would become faster and more maneuverable over time, whereas yours barely improved aside from the addition of skills/weapons. Surely the British would upgrade their planes from WWI to WWII at the very least, wouldn't they?

Water and Land units: Someone below mentioned these, and these would be a great idea. The air war didn't just have airplanes, and though history has changed, I don't see why either side wouldn't have anti-air ground or naval units.

Escort missions: All of the missions seem like you blow up a set amount of planes, so why not change it up a bit? For example, "The British leadership is being evacuated from London. Their airship needs an escort, however, to defend off the Luffwaffe." The airship would be a blimp (you know, sort of like the later boss), and you would need to defend it from enemies for several turns. The enemies would be spread out in squadrons across the map, so they all wouldn't just come in at the same time.

Multiple campaigns: There could be an entire other campaign that deals with Japan and the US. Maybe a little segment on a Cold War gone wrong; (SPOILER) The Germans already flung a nuke at Paris, there could be even more of the same during the Cold War.

On the topic of Japan, there could even be kamikaze planes that you had to be on the lookout for, since they look exactly like the rest.

(I bet you already thought up of some of these.)

Now, I could give a review here, but I really don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said. This looks promising; keep up the good work!

Innovative

Just perfect. Very fun, addictive and takes some skill to play. The "star" system keeps hardcore players around a bit, but I'm certain a skirmish system is what the game needs to hook players even more.

The music and the alternate storyline really contribute to the game flavor, and I really look forward to see future updates on this game, because there is so much potential.

"National Hero" gives this game a 10/10 :)
