Reviews for "Hypno8"

(=<Review Request Club>=)

I found it difficult really, i think is a simply but nice game realy, i enojeyed playing it... The background music was ok and the voice "Next Level" was very nice i really like that lol
I think maybe changing the direction of the Hypno it would be funnier, like not always the 8... obviously you would need to change the game name for that, but that would make it funnier :p
Its a great game for highscores... and nice idea you had :p
Hope to see more from you :P

Best regards and sorry for my english (my native language is spanish),

Quite addictive and good fun

I think that for a simple concept of a game, this is perfect. You've designed a game that gets points for clicking a circle that moves in an easy, set pattern at an increasing speed and you lose the game for clicking outside the circle. It is made a hell of a lot more challenging by adding the hypnotic pattern to the mix, but it still works as a game and I have to say that I did play this for a good few minutes, before I tried to write this review.

With the way that you will inevitably lose, do you think a high score table would be a good idea? It just looks like the natural progression for me. Also, I wouldn't stop the proceedings and say "Next Level", I'd just sound a gong each lap and have it work that way, with the piece moving constantly, just to keep the game flowing. It's much more of a challenge that way.

Simple game. Maddeningly addictive.
However, I think after the first few levels the game gets a little too simple; given the basic nature of the game, there's a definite scope for MASSIVE expansion.

One way would be increasing the distraction of the background; maybe changing the colours randomly, changing the visual illusion that makes up the background, even have random things moving from side to side in the background...because what you have to do to play is so "simple"...you can have a lot of fun trying to distract people.
Another would be increasing the difficulty level...you've got this simple loop to start with, and it doesn't seem to change; as the game progresses, you could maybe change the pattern people have to follow. Like, every five levels change the path, just to keep the game a little fresher.

The game lagged a tiny bit for me, but that's probably because I have several thousand tabs open, ahaha xD. But yeah, having some kind of quality button would be nice, just to make sure that doesn't become a problem.

Really great game; lots of room to expand this into something a lot bigger and more complex, but it's still addictive as it is, so kudos for that. Not much is addicting at 4:30 am, I'll tell you that much :P

Could be better.

Honestly, I loved the idea of this game a lot more than the execution. While it's simple, and fun to play, it does get boring very quickly, even before you finish a round. While I love the idea of a psychedelic game, I think yours needs far to much activity to keep it going. Most people interested in a trippy game arn't in much of a state to want to click continuously to keep it going.

I suggest making it so that the design of the spiral changes when you click or something. Basically make it more trippy when the user clicks on it, and make it so you can't fail. This would really be more appealing to people interested in trippy games. I understand that would turn it into more of a gadget than a game, and that may not be the road you want to go down, but it's just a suggestion, you don't have to take it.

As is, it's a decent mini game that takes a few minutes of my time. Good, but nothing spectacular. It has potential though. The novel idea scores it quite a few extra points than it might have gotten were it not trippy.

I could only get around 5,000 points and it really got hard after that. I think some of the people who got over 14,000 points must have cheated in some manner.

~ Animation/Graphics ~

The animation was smooth and simple. There isn't much to complain about or to comment about either. The game seemed to lag quite a bit in the beginning, but that must have just been for me. In the later levels when it got faster the lag went away. I'm sure that's my computer though.

~ Story/Concept ~

It's a test of skill for sure, but the simplicity takes a little bit away from it. Don't get me wrong, the simplicity is also one of it's strong points. For example, doing two things at once is a great challenge game, but it gets repetitive and not too exciting.

Why not change the way things move or look after each level? Still make them harder by making them faster, but maybe change the shape or at least make it smaller and change the course between every level. Adding more directions the main target can go will just add to the fun of the game in my opinion.

~ Audio ~

The sound effects and everything were perfectly fine. The voice for the next level was really nice and fitting for the submission. Other than that there isn't much to mention about the audio.

~ Overall ~

The graphics were good, the concept was good, but a bit simple at times, and the audio was a nice addition to the game. I would have gave this somewhere around a 7.3 so I rounded down to 7. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more games from you in the future!
