Reviews for "Da Jazz Method"

well what to say

I just want to say that your work shows an immense ammount of talent, but the quality of the animation shifts heavily from scene to scene. At some points it's extremely good and at others it's just average (of course when compared to the "average" newgrounder it was all phenominal). The frames were a bit awkward at several points, which really took away from the flow of it. At other times the anatomy was a little off, or undefined. Normally this wouldn't be a huge problem, but since your overall drawing skills are of a higher quality than most, any real drop in that quality seems more noticable. Your background skills are great, but it would have been nice to see more of them.

Another thing I noticed was that your faces felt a bit awkward during close up shots, although that wasn't as pronounced in that last fight scene. In fact everything about that last scene was great, so I'm guessing it was your most recent work. The lack of a plot did hurt the animation, since the rapid shift in the tone, pace and quality made it hard to appreciate the work as a whole. Of course that's the nature of a demo real, but I'm just trying to speculate as to why you didn't get something closer to a 4.5. I honestly think the music choice was pretty bad, since it made the camera feel even more jerky and made me think my computer was broken for a minute. The biggest think I think you could improve would be your frame pacing and your faces. Also your muscle detail felt a little flat, but your anatomical outlining was great. I also think a lot of the animation could have been cut out, since some of it really only brought down the rest. Sorry to go on so long, just little observations. anyway, great job and good luck. 5/5 9/10

Hahaha yeah, I know, there's alot of my old work sprinkled in there because I wasn't too productive last year, so some stuff isn't the real deal. As for the timing and frames, I suspect it has something to do with the way I converted the cartoons to video. MagicSwf2Avi is what I used to use, it flawlessly turns flash to crispy video, but this time I just recorded the screen with Camtasia, resulting in some shitty playback. But you are quite observant, thanks for the good review, I will keep the advice in mind =)

Amazing work!

Nice one. The loader image is very nice and the fight at the end just puts it all together. Though I noticed the drawing style was changing with each scene, but I'm assuming it means those are different episodes. Was also rather jerky but I could still see what was going on.
Good work, looking forward to the final work.

Intresting

This looks intresting and has potential, i love your art style.

But if your going to do a futuristic lifestyle + combat style... please for the love of gods sake make some sadistic characters and a good plot.

JazLyte responds:

Welll.....I have sadistic characters.

pretty cool

the animation was good for most parts. sometimes a little jumpy though. Also, I think it could use a little more detail on some parts of it, but it was probably the different projects that made the difference.

Got a few scars!

I do not think I have heard of you before, but this was truly great! Seeing as how the song was an audio submission here on Newgrounds, I now understand why I did not recognize it. This was just great to watch, because the animation is so great. It completey lacks in plot, as it is a demo reel, but everything just fits together so well. This is seriously something that a professional animator would be working on. It even seems as though you used a different program than Flash Player to make this.

JazLyte responds:

Nope, this is 100% flash :) Thanks for the great review, glad you enjoyed it.
