I've actually never played Tyrian, however I know all about it 'cuz as you probably guessed thats where most of the graphics come from: the artist who made them very kindly put them on the web for anyone to use.
I'm working on the sequel at the moment which has all new original graphics - I didn't wanna reuse the same ones again 'cuz thats boring, but it's been a real challenge for me to make anything of comparable quality to originals: I _think_ I've done ok (just finishing off the bosses at the moment), anyway I'll release it soon then I'll find out for sure when the reviews roll in!

i just love the retro design of the ships and bosses.
as stated below it is a bit too easy but on the other hand there are enough frustrating nerve bending games out there that make you curse and swear like...nevermind.
i lubbed it.

Ohh I love this game! I first played on armor games and it instantly became my favorite shooter. Now with medals sweet!
A tick to easy
I first saw this game on another page and loved it, especially because one could repeat levels and make cash like that und upgrade ones ship to the maximum quite fast. At lvl 9 i had my ship allready fully upgraded so the last 4 levels where easy. As i read out of othere reviews, you want to make a second part, it would be nice to make the levels a bit harder and add more upgrades or upgrade the upgrades (hope you understend what i mean :-)). Ok, getting somthin to put the power up is surely not a bad thing to do, but not really that necessary. Yes, maybe if the game gets harder. Besides that you did a real fine job.

yeah maybe it is too easy. I like having some really easy levels at the start but it should be a bit more difficult at the end, 'cuz like you say it's no problem to get all the upgrades by then.... I'll see what I can do with the sequel - I'm just finishing an iPhone app and then I'm onto it.
