pretty awful
It's a mess. Like I died and was reincarnated in a pixely mess back in 1980s.
Gameplay wasn't much better. Flixel should die if all these games I've seen so far are any indication of what people can do with it.

OK Twist on an Overdone Idea
While this type of game has been overdone (which resulted in the majority of post points), this game does have some good additions to the game which would likely draw some fans to it.
The forced movement upward isn't a major draw for this type of game. While it does keep a constant pressure on the player to move upward, it may prevent the player from using the new stuff you added.
Lacking a little bit in the innovation department, but a decent game to blow some time now & again.
