Why is the fourth level so much harder than the previous 3?

As always, game play gets harder as you move from level to level. On the first level, you have a basic enemy. On the 2nd, you have a faster (blue) enemy. By the 4th level you have a stronger (red) enemy... which means you will need more ships than usual to conquer an enemy planet.
The colors of the enemy is not just a way of telling them apart... it also represents different races, where almost each race have different capabilities (some are faster, some are stronger, etc) .
