i could feel sorry with the characters "knowing" they were cartoons
and for that SIR you are a true genius. the sequence itself WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL which make me see it twice in order to get it completely.

Kiddies go to get candies at apartments... Kiddies get hit by drunk driver! Boys die girl lives.
Girl is knocked out, dreams that they all are alive and go to the apartments. Slowly she starts understanding what happens through the dream.
1st they look and see the van. Then as they go into the apartment they are surrounded by things that represent death. They see the red creature which im guessing is death it's self. Or maybe it's helping them realize what happend.
The African man I think represents disease.
The Girl is a rape victim.
The mother represents life while the soilder behind her is death.
It's a beautiful flash and in no way is randomly gory. It tells a story!
Just pay attention!
