Great, Just a few things you might want to edit.
First, try not to start off a story like this with "once opon a time."
Second a scythe does not have two handles out the side, only one.
When the kids were "skinned alive" they still had their skin on as scarecrows.
"The scarecrow stands today" Dependent on how long ago this farmer 50 years ago the scarecrow would have rotted. How would a corn field sustain itself for 50 years. And lastly why would the spirit wait 50 years to finish his business?
The last three things could be attributed to "Magic". Just some constructive criticism to make your next flash even better. Great work!
