Reviews for "Planetoid - Chapter 1"

Hmmm... I don't know what I watched...

~ Animation/Graphics ~

The animation was pretty smooth and the graphics were pretty good with your own unique style. There was really only one part that wasn't so great. When the space ship started to launch off of the planet the quality of the drawing went way down and the animation was kind of choppy. That was really the only fault that I had with it.

~ Story/Content ~

You had a lot of nice graphics and good content, but I couldn't tell what was going on at all. I could tell that the alien guy there was lonely and felt really sad, but I really had no clue what was going on other than that. It almost makes me interested enough to come back and review the other submissions in the series to see where it's going, but it could use some explanation for sure.

~ Audio ~

You had a good use of audio and a good use of sound effects in this submission. Nothing really else to comment about the audio other than you did a good job with it.

~ Overall ~

It was interesting to watch, but I was left with the impression that I had no clue what was going on.

Fate responds:

Haha, well, you weren't far off the money.
Chapter one was pretty much improvised, but from then on, I had direction.
Don't even mention the scene with the rocket taking off :P
It makes me squirm seeing it, and I regret it a lot.

I'm glad you liked the graphics, though, as I put a lot of time into improving them.
Thanks for the great review.

Hey Great work.

I love these kind of videos! crazy. i like what you did with the music to the animation< it worked out real nice. Also you had some really awesome frame by frame animation, like that first scene where he stands up. not only did i think it was stylish with great flow but the artwork was just awesome. Keep up the videos.

Fate responds:

:D
The shot where he stands up wasn't even in the original version. If you squinted, you could see him move on the planet ages away. It's pretty much the only new shot I added to this better version.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the review.

Naww

:D I dont know whether to feel happy or sad but there is an emmense feeling behind this :)
10/10 5/5...... Win!
Thanks xoxxo

Fate responds:

Thanks a bunch :)

Forced Intergalactic Harmony

I enjoyed all that you have so far, with this one following--to a lesser degree--the original's arthouse feel, that I deem to be the greatest in the series. All the other sequels seemed to have lost the 'tactile' image of the main character. This is WRONG, and is integral to the appeal of this work, in my oppinion. Artwork aside, I'm not sure if this is a 'redux' of the original, and if it is..then the concept of destroying one's home planet, (which seemed dull to the inhabitant) in order to find love in another being seems lost; and is the main driving point behind your first episode's appeal, in my oppinion.

I love flashes on this site that aren't pop-culture related, or random comedy-driven... and so your series of flash are sights for these sore eyes. Oh, and if you continue use actual voice-acting, like the cliffhanger of Ch.3 suggests, then please try and do so without any cheesiness, as this precedent you've made (with your animations following, brilliantly with the soundtrack.) could be marred by anything less-than-spectacular.

Those are suggestions, and I know you will do what is best for the Planetoid. Take care.

Fate responds:

I'll try and cut down the cheesiness, but it's necessary in the plot, so it's not going anywhere.
And in Chapter 5, it will be timed with the music, and should be worth it.
My original aim was to do a different style each chapter, because, for me, this started off as just practice.
Though that's starting to change as it's beginning to become more serious.
I'll take your advice and try and bring back the art-house feel.
I'm glad you liked how it's all timed with the music.
It takes me forever to find/choose a song for a chapter.

Thanks for the great review.

holy masking effects batman!

This is way cool. I liked the mask effect and you did well with it here. i've always been a fan of space type movies and this showed something special. great work!

Fate responds:

At first, it was all masking effects, but by the end of it, I'd found an easier way, which, obviously, wasn't masking. >.>
