Just two things
The only things Id change would be the fact that the final level/ final boss fight there is no egg replenish area so after the hits you need to start at the beginning again, and while I understand being underwater would make you move a bit more than you intend to, the movement seems to not be constant at times and Id suggest touching that up. Otherwise a solid game.

The reason you think this game is so 'freaking hard' or so 'impossible' is because you have been playing all those easy games throughout these times. Almost all NES games are difficult yet challenging, take Super Mario or Megaman series for example, let alone this.
Personally, I think I understand why you can't lay eggs during the boss fight. Firstly, it takes forever to code out the programming script and configurations (on when do you lay an egg, during the 2nd hit on the boss? the 2nd form?). If you don't get what I mean, then let me make it sound simple. The creator wants to give us a challenging time.
If you can get the rhythm right for the stages, if you can figure out the pattern of the boss, the whole game will be easy. The medals, however, will need some thoughts before you can get it, just like Windows98 - which requires you to toggle the game's quality, as well as PrettyMuch - just click the author's name in the game screen.Trust all of us. We've been there.

I think this game was very fun! And screw you haters! But I think the music was a little... meh. And for me, the game was just impossible.. But the game looked very nice, and continue making games!! (Sorry for bad English)
