you show promise with this. you need sound effect they can make or break a good fight. even if the animation is sloppy a good sound effect can save it.
your frame rate could use abit of work as well GG is fast, watch the games as well as some of the better sprite battles to work out a good frame rate for your self.
mindless fights are good and all but a story will go a long way even if it's a short one. i see you tried here but the dialog went by to fast. try adding a control so the user can pick when to continue the dialog when their done reading. while this might break some of the flow it's much better then losing the story completely.
lastly, keep trying the only way you will get better is by doing more, the more you do the better you will become even if it don't look like it.
