Reviews for "Dead Frontier: Outbreak"
while i appreciate the game as a whole. the guy has absolutely no emotion and speaks in monotone. this is contrary to a zombie survival game. i'd be freaked, not bored.
One of my all-time favorites on Newgrounds. The music seems tailor made for the game. The voice over work is great and the story line pretty damn good. Goodness knows how many times I've played it over the years. Hoping to one day log on and see a part 3. As this being my first review on Newgrounds(even though I've visited this site for years) it's only fitting that I start with this title. Great job.
Simply perfect!
Its simple, but genial at the same time. Common, but rare and original.
There are a lot of simple text games. But create a GOOD simple text game is very hard, becouse you have to impress someone just with a few of pictures and text. You did it.
I read just plenty of text, heard just one repeating song, listened to one voice, saw just a few of pictures, BUT I can actually feel the desperation, the fear, the defencelesness. Its short, but I was actually more impressed with this than with the whole walking dead series and the game.
There are reasons why I found this more original than common horror movies/games:
- You are no superhero. No Rambo. You are just a human. And only "weapon" you have is your brain. Even when you are armed (in this and the second game) you are STILL just a mortal.
- You have to think twice before you make a decision. Even single mistake can cause your death. Just like in "real" life.
- Play hero is not automaticly the right coice. Sometimes you MUST be a little selfish.
- Sometimes the unpopular/uncomfortable decision is the best decision.
- One bite, game over.
- There is not a big story, you are just a human trying to survive and protect his wife. In movie it would not be such impressive, but when YOU ARE the one who is trying to survive, its different.
